About this deal

The Yamaha DTX Multi-12 does not offer anywhere near that much space, but it supports finger and hand drumming, with mutable pads, meaning it feels much more realistic to play. Then you’ve got the Nord Drum 3P - also filed under ‘multipad’ - which is a drum synthesizer. The six rubber pads are smooth, responsive and a joy to play. The unit comes in at a modest 4lbs (1.85kg) but feels sturdy and road-ready. The downside to the Nord Drum 3P is that it’s priced relatively high when you consider what you can do with it. However, what they are offering is a high quality drum synthesizer for use in live and studio environments. Also new to the Pro is a desktop app that enables full control of your unit, so you can assign samples to pads, apply effects and so much more without having to deep dive through endless menus and button pushes.Prepping for your next gig has never been easier. This is particularly useful for modern live performances. Live drummers are learning to adapt to keep up with changing times. Drum triggering is experiencing a revival in modern music, and drummers are required to use sample pads to replicate sounds that appear on a record.

However, from using it, it feels like the firmware update just automatically reduced the sensitivity of the problematic pads. When I manually increased the sensitivity again, the cross-talk issues persisted for me. I recorded live hits from one of my acoustic drum sets and loaded samples of that onto this device. It worked fairly nicely, though I wasn’t amazed when using an external hi-hat controller. With the SamplePad's easy-to-use interface, you won't be rifling through endless submenus and categories to find the sound your looking for. Simply strike the pad you want to change, dial to the sound you want and you're done. If you discover a great combination of sounds you want to keep together, simply designate it as a kit and the SamplePad will save it for easy recall anytime you want. Features My initial impression of the unit itself is that it is surprisingly lightweight and compact. It’s a very capable piece of kit considering its size. It’s also very portable, which is exactly what you want if you’re a gigging drummer. Featuring 4 highly responsive, LED illumated rubber pads, dual-zone trigger input, and 8 kit presets, the Alesis SamplePad 4 is the ideal solution for all of your drum-effect needs. If you'relooking for a dedicated sample triggerthe Alesis Samplepad is ideal. It's low cost, rugged and functional, with velocity sensitivity and an SD card slot for use without a distinct sampler unit. The Samplepad is the ultimate compact sampler module, ideal for enhancing your live performances with highly-creative sampled sounds. Here's what Alesis say about the Samplepad:

When compared to options from Roland or Nord, some of the on-board sounds are a little unsophisticated, and we experienced some awkwardly long loading times when switching between functions. While this is not too much of a problem at home, this could potentially waste precious seconds on stage. Let’s say you’re importing a snare sample to your sample pad. In terms of dynamics of playing a snare drum, think of two velocity layers as two different volume hits.Importing samples is as simple as dropping them to an SD card and plugging it into your Sample Pad 4. The samples need to be in the root directory of your card. First and foremost, we are musicians, and we want other players to find the right product for them. So we take into careful consideration everything from budget to feature set, ease of use and durability to come up with a list of what we can safely say are the best electronic drum pads on the market right now. The SPD::One Wav is perhaps the most useful - albeit slightly more costly - of the group. It has 4GB internal storage and 12 assignable slots, meaning you can use this as a fully functioning, fully customisable sample pad. Overall, these are nifty little pieces of gear, despite the relatively high outlay. In addition to being able to load your own sounds with the built in SD card storage; the Alesis drum pad has numerous expansion options on-board. Cross-talk: This was one of my biggest concerns with using the SamplePad Pro. A well-known issue with this model is that hitting one pad may trigger another.

The audio files that are supported are “16-bit, mono or stereo .WAV files. Sample rate of either 48K, 44.1K, 32K, 22.05K, or 11.025K.” There are plenty of audio utilities to convert your files to these. You can put these on an SD card and make sure to put them on the root folder of the card. You should get an instant answer on whether your application has been successful, though in some rare cases Klarna or V12 may need to look at the application in more detail. If an item can not be repaired, a similar alternative product or cash discount (as defined in this policy) will be offered Switching between kits when using only the internal sounds is very fast, so that’s something else to keep in mind. On-board storage is now a massive 32GB, which is double that of the SPD-SX Special Edition (keep reading for more on that), and there’s more than 1,500 kits and sounds built into each unit, covering a range of sounds and styles. Need an extra cymbal or tom for certain songs? Got it covered. Want to add some wind-chimes into a quiet section of your song? No problem. Whatever sound you're looking for, the Alesis SamplePad gives youendless possibilities to addnew and creative elementsto your setup. Versatile and Rugged Sample Trigger

They're not just great for drummers either. Perhaps you’re a live DJ with a nice loop going. Why not spice it up by stepping away from the booth and playing a percussion break? You can then add effects and layers to colour it however you want, or loop it to keep the break going while you mix something else. What is a multipad? Don’t be limited to the factory library – make this instrument your own! With SamplePad Pro, use an SD card (up to 32GB, not included) to store an additional 512 sounds and 89 custom kits. Plus, each sound offers individual access to key parameters such as pitch, panning, and reverb for customised control. Expanded Control A sample pad will allow you to trigger on-board sounds or ‘sampled audio’ - along with files you’ve recorded or uploaded yourself - and integrate them into your setup however you see fit. Pre-loaded kits can often be erased to make space for your own bespoke sounds.

You’re able to import a lighter “tap” sample as well as a hard-hitting strike of the drum. You can then adjust the velocity level on the SamplePad 4 to determine when the “crossover” is of which sample to trigger. This is great for percussion samples like congas or bongos. The ins and outs of the Alesis SamplePad 4 Still with us? Okay, let’s get into it. With the exceptional high quality we’ve come to expect from Nord, the 3P displays a vast array of sonic capabilities. It has 200 sounds and a large variety of modulators, oscillators, reverbs, filters and various other FX on-board. You can use these to alter specific aspects of each sound and save them as your own in one of the 400 available banks. There is also a sequencer app for iOS, called Nord Beat, which will make beat-makers and producers feel at home. To the untrained eye, the Pro model looks an awful lot like the standard SPD-SX, but there have been some significant cosmetic and performance enhancements that have earned it the ‘pro’ moniker. Firstly - and most obviously - are the customisable LEDs for each pad, which make it easier to navigate the pads in low stage light, and help you more easily identify which samples have been assigned to which pad.
