About this deal

Slit lamp examination: A physician or optometrist shines a vertical slit of light across your eye while looking through a microscope. It can help find many eye problems. Retina: a light sensitive layer that lines the interior of the eye. It is composed of light sensitive cells known as rods and cones. The human eye contains about 125 million rods, which are necessary for seeing in dim light. Cones, on the other hand, function best in bright light. There are between 6 and 7 million cones in the eye and they are essential for receiving a sharp accurate image and for distinguishing colours. The retina works much in the same way as film in a camera. Optic nerve-related conditions. These affect the nerve that links the eyes and brain. Examples include optic neuritis and optic atrophy.

About

Varenicline ( Tyrvaya) is a newly approved nasal spray that can be taken twice a day in each nostril to increase basal tear production. Quit using tobacco, or never start. Nicotine-containing products, including vaping or smokeless (chewing) tobacco, can contribute to circulatory problems over time. This is especially true of the smaller, more delicate blood vessels in your eyes. Ask your provider for resources to help you quit. The visual system in the human brain is too slow to process information if images are slipping across the retina at more than a few degrees per second. [26] Thus, to be able to see while moving, the brain must compensate for the motion of the head by turning the eyes. Frontal-eyed animals have a small area of the retina with very high visual acuity, the fovea centralis. It covers about 2 degrees of visual angle in people. To get a clear view of the world, the brain must turn the eyes so that the image of the object of regard falls on the fovea. Any failure to make eye movements correctly can lead to serious visual degradation.

Cones sense color and they need more light than rods to work well. Cones are most helpful in normal or bright light. The retina has three types of cones. Each cone type is sensitive to one of three different colors — red, green, or blue — to help you see different ranges of color. Together, these cones can sense combinations of light waves that let our eyes to see millions of colors. Carney, LG; Hill, RM (June 1982). "The nature of normal blinking patterns". Acta Ophthalmologica. 60 (3): 427–433. doi: 10.1111/j.1755-3768.1982.tb03034.x. PMID 7136554. S2CID 22362219. Dry eye: Either your eyes don’t produce enough tears, or the tears are of poor quality. Most commonly due to aging but medical problems like lupus, scleroderma, and Sjogren's syndrome can be to blame.

The anterior (say: AN-teer-ee-ur) chamber is the space between the cornea and the iris. This space is filled with a special transparent fluid that nourishes the eye and keeps it healthy. What's the Lens?

Sometimes someone's eyeball shape makes it difficult for the cornea, lens, and retina to work perfectly as a team. When this happens, some of what the person sees will be out of focus. The lens works much like the lens of a movie projector at the movies. Next time you sit in the dark theater, look behind you at the stream of light coming from the projection booth. This light goes through a powerful lens, which is focusing the images onto the screen, so you can see the movie clearly. In the eye's case, however, the film screen is your retina.
