About this deal

While the classic Pure Brilliant White is the obvious option to counterpoint more vibrantly painted walls, Crown also offers its Matt Emulsion in 64 other hues, including the soothing mid-grey of City Break, the murky, misty green of Khaki Twist, and the roaring red inferno of English Fire. The type of paint you should use on your bathroom ceilings all depends on how well-ventilated your bathroom is and what your style preferences are.

Painting ceilings has the potential to cause a lot of mess and potentially damage your precious carpets and furnishings beyond repair, so it pays to be prepared. Even specialist paints that are designed not to drip or spatter will do exactly that if your brush or roller is overloaded. Normally, when you finish a basement, you drywall the ceiling when you put in the walls. That makes it look like any other room in your house. We decided not to for a few reasons: 1. Height Great! Bold colours on the ceiling enliven a room while creating visual interest and contrast. Consider matching yellows, greens or blues with a feature wall or to perfectly offset white walls. Colour on the ceiling acts to bring intimacy to a large space, adds instant character and it’s also an easy way to harmonise a colour scheme. For example, use the shade on your ceiling as a base for pops of a similar colour throughout your home. It's a general rule of thumb that if the ceiling is a darker color than the walls, it makes the ceiling feel closer and the room feel smaller. So, if you have a low ceiling, you'll want to keep this in mind: painting them a dark color can make the room feel cramped. As my go-to bathroom ceiling paint, I’ve personally used this a million times (ok, not literally) and have never encountered any sort of problem and, most importantly, customers have never reported a problem after it has been applied.Matt paint or flat matt paints are paints that don’t reflect a lot of light and for this reason, they are preferred for their modern aesthetic. However, unless your bathroom is well-ventilated it’s usually a good idea to avoid using retail matt paints in particular. If you really want a modern aesthetic then trade matt paint is your only option here.

It’s perfectly ok to use normal ceiling paint in the bathroom but it’s worth considering how well-ventilated your bathroom is before using this option. If your bathroom is well-ventilated and doesn’t suffer from steam or condensation issues then you can go ahead and use normal ceiling paint in your bathroom. Other dark colors that have been adapted by designers for ceilings include graphite and charcoal gray, grays with a bluish hue, silver grays, and of course navy. Dark tones combined with bright white or other bold colors are a brave way to be creative and add personality. Wondering how durable it is? It is formulated to be able to withstand cleaning in hospital environments and can even be applied on walls and ceilings where swimming pools are present – it’s truly tough as old boots.Touch dry after one to three hours, the manufacturer recommends two coats, the second applied at least four hours after the first. While painting a ceiling is really no different than the techniques used to paint a traditional wall, there are a few key elements to keep in mind when working with such a dark color.

We did this project before the room had walls (what you see is the spray foam insulation) or floors or anything, which was perfect because it would make a big mess otherwise. We just masked off the windows and the open spots where the light fixtures were going. Eggshell paint tends to have a soft sheen that isn’t the best at hiding imperfections but does have more durability than matt paint. It’s, for this reason, a lot of professionals will opt for an eggshell (particularly oil-based eggshell) to paint their clients’ bathroom ceilings. The resistance it offers to humid conditions means it lasts a lot longer than matt paints. With that being said, it’s a stunning product for mould resistance and if you do have a mould problem I would highly recommend removing the mould permanently, and then covering the ceiling with Zinsser Perma-White – however many coats it takes.Ready to start? First up, clear your room and lay down drop sheets to protect the floor. If you have furniture that you can’t move, push it into the middle of the room and cover it with a sheet. If it’s possible to remove parts of any fixtures, like elaborate light fittings, do this too. Have all your tools within easy reach, pop on your favourite music and get set to make your ceiling shine. To complement the area’s light and airy elements, the rustic brown painted living room ceiling works nicely in this setting. The space can feel a little cosier and more intimate without being overly dark by using dark ceiling paint schemes. To improve the image, you can choose any darker shade that suits your needs and preferences, such as deep blue or green. This paint is quite expensive so it’s worth considering taking a chance on a different brand unless you can afford it. In my opinion, Crown Acrylic Eggshell is just slightly better in every department such as opacity, flow and durability yet slightly cheaper.
