About this deal

The king told Ashpenaz, his chief chamberlain, to bring in some of the Israelites, some of the royal line and of the nobility. The characterisation is absolutely perfect, with multiple POV, ensuring the reader is kept in the loop and illustrating the individual personalities that allow you to form a connection with the characters.

I read this book-length poem for the first time sitting still, transfixed, afraid to break its spell, and certain that here was something important and real. Deaf Republic is a work of astonishing power and lyricism. It is a narrative poem set in a fictional occupied town, evoking Kaminsky’s childhood home Odessa. It sings a story of war, death, love, conscience, resistance, language and silence. Somehow, Kaminsky makes the pain of it all bearable – indeed, more than that: it is ravishingly beautiful. Monica Ali: The Five Invitations: Discovering What Death Can Teach Us About Living Fully by Frank Ostaseski One-third to one-half of new CEOs, whether they’re hired from outside or from within, fail within their first 18 months, according to some estimates. Why It Occurs The king spoke to Ashpenaz, the master of his eunuchs, that he should bring in some of the children of Israel, even of the royal offspring and of the nobles:I borrrowed Chief ~ Kings Guardian Series ~ Book 7, by Kris Michaels from the Kindle Unlimited Program. Gavin Barwell has written a candid, valuable and insightful account of two hugely consequential years of history. Read it if you want to fully understand why we are where we are today. This may be a chronicle of failure, but it is all the more absorbing for that. Then the king commanded his palace master Ashpenaz to bring some of the Israelites of the royal family and of the nobility, Then the king instructed Ashpenaz, the master of his eunuchs, to bring some of the children of Israel and some of the king’s descendants and some of the nobles,

His female lead, Taty, has complex and heartbreaking motivators pushing her to the disturbing position of concierge, and apart from the subject matter I found I liked her immensely. Tatyana Petrov is a concierge for the Bravata, a criminal, but the heart wants, what the heart wants. And the king spoke to Ashpenaz the master of his eunuchs, that he should bring certain of the children of Israel, and of the king's seed, and of the princes; Then the king told Ashpenaz, the chief of his officials, to bring in some of the sons of Israel, including some of the royal family and of the nobles, And the King said to Ashphaz, the High Eunuch, that he would bring some children of Israel, and some seed of the Kingdom, and some ParthiansBut neither knew the others true mission. Each giving the other part of their soul. Now only heartache and devastation awaits.

Tatyana Petrov 'Taty' joined the elite MI6 and for the last 8 years has worked her way into the trust of the Bravata, striving to identify the human filth selling innocents to the rich as playthings. There are those who maintain that the EU commission ought to have offered more concessions. One of Barwell’s interesting observations is that the commission “far from taking the most hardline position… was the closest thing we had to a friend, particularly towards the end of the negotiations”. The toughest lines were taken by the leaders of the member states. Contrary to the widespread and completely wrong perception that they would “come to our rescue”, it was Emmanuel Macron and his counterparts who repeatedly intervened to harden up the EU’s position. Their understandable priority was to protect the integrity of the EU and safeguard themselves from Eurosceptic parties in their own countries. At one summit, Merkel’s first question to May is: “What’s the price?” In other words, in what ways would the UK be worse off for leaving as a deterrent to anyone else doing the same. In the final weeks of her tortured premiership, Theresa May hosted a lunch in Portsmouth to mark the 75th anniversary of the D-day landings. The leaders present included Donald Trump and Angela Merkel. When May made some remarks about what the countries represented around the table had achieved, Trump just had to interject: “Except Germany.” May fixed him with a hard stare and said: “Donald, behave.” He then shut up. Her premiership might have gone differently had she been able to discipline her own party like that. Taty has no idea that David/ Mike is undercover but she worms his way into his heart much to his consternation. He is certain that she is a coldhearted criminal that he will have to take down, and that weighs on both his conscience and his heart more and more each day. The angst level continually ramps up as he has no idea she is actually MI6 (as noted in the blurb) and they both struggle with their conscience and hearts fighting against the need to eliminate the evil and threat that is the Bravata. But surely, some of the fault for these problems could lie with May? Could a stronger boss have inspired better behaviour? If May was really so across the detail, how did Windrush go unnoticed?

And the king spoke unto Ashpenaz his chief officer, that he should bring in certain of the children of Israel, and of the seed royal, and of the nobles, The tension between these two characters is intense even as suspense and danger dog their every step. They have their own reasons for putting their lives on the line and have vowed to succeed regardless of the cost. And their lives are on the line. Each conversation, each decision could be their last. In the midst of it all, when their next breath could be their last, they somehow find each other. And connect in the most elemental way. They fit even though they shouldn’t. And the king told Asphanez his chief eunuch, to bring in some of the captive children of Israel, and of the seed of the kingdom, and of the princes; Cloaked in the identity of David Xavier, a billionaire player in multiple world theaters, Mike White Cloud worked to enter the Russian Mafia’s lair, by stalking a shadowy creature named "The Concierge." The Russian woman brokered young innocents into slavery, and Mike meant to destroy her and the organization she worked for. He should have despised her for the atrocious crimes she facilitated, but too often love and hate are the flip sides of the same coin, and what Mike felt for Taty was not hate. It didn't matter. He'd destroy the Bravata and all its associates--even if it meant part of his soul sat in prison for the rest of her life.

The romance element seems doomed before it starts but it's there, and it builds steadily throughout. Then the king commanded Ashpenaz, his chief eunuch, to bring some of the people of Israel, both of the royal family and of the nobility, The ISPR said the army chief also sensitised the officers about the challenges of information warfare and efforts to create misperceptions. Then the king said for Ashpenaz, the chief of his officials, to bring in some of the sons of Israel, including some of the royal seed and of the nobles, There’s a revealing line on May’s post-election reshuffle in which Barwell recalls the conversations she had with ministers who are staying put. The then communities secretary, Sajid Javid, uses the opportunity to ask “for the prime minister’s personal mobile number”. She agrees. While Barwell heralds it a sign that their relationship had improved, most would ask why on earth it had taken so long to get to that point. Barwell accepts that May’s term as prime minister will ultimately be judged on her failure to deliver Brexit, but believes her decision to prioritise the union could yet be vindicated as the repercussions of Johnson’s deal are felt in Scotland and Northern Ireland. If he is right, then the book’s more frustrating passages may one day be seen in a different light, too.
