About this deal

We did notice a slight delay of around 10 seconds to one minute between boosting the heating from both the radiator thermostat or the app and the boiler springing into action. The further away from the Heat Hub the thermostat is, the longer the delay. Initially, we also struggled to get the radiator thermostat in the room furthest from the Heat Hub to remain connected to the system at all times. It would often drop the signal, meaning we were unable to control it via the app. However, after installing an optional Wiser Smart Plug – which also doubles as a range extender for the system – in a room between the Heat Hub and the troublesome radiator thermostat, connection issues were no longer a problem. However, it does have an Away Mode. Rather than switching the heating off completely while you’re out, this feature allows you to set a minimum temperature at which you want your home to remain at while away. If the temperature plunges below this threshold, the heating will spring to life – handy, if you're concerned about frozen pipes when you’re not at home.

Custom Moments can be created, where you set the target temperature that you want. For example, you could set a holiday mode where the heating’s mostly off but give a boost at set times to warm it through. Heat Pumps are also supported and selectable in the app as the available heat source. Underfloor heating is also supported: wet systems need the Underfloor Heating Controller; electric systems can use the Drayton Wiser Eletrical Heat Switch. Thanks for the detailed response. I havent decommissioned the downstairs thermostat but given its just a dial, I think all it does is set the max temperature rather than dictating when to come on - the Drayton must have taken control in that case as it comes with its own digital thermostat to place in a given room. The Wiser Hub can be installed in just 20 minutes using the industry standard wall plate included. Wire into your existing cylinder thermostat for hot water control. The system is suitable for 99% of all UK boilers. In addition, each room can have Open Window Detection turned on. This uses an algorithm to detect when a draft is detected, suggesting an open window or door. The heating is then turned off to conserve energy. A combi boiler requires good water pressure, so may not be suitable in some residential areas where pressure is low. Hot water can be stored within the cylinder, beneficial for larger households where a lot of hot water is used. Smart thermostatic radiator valves are the best way to control the temperature in your home, and they can help save a lot of money, as you only heat the rooms that you need. While most systems are very expensive, the Drayton Wiser system is comparatively cheaper, yet it remains very powerful. Design and installation

HubR: 148mm(w) 93mm(h), 31mm(d); Room thermostat: 76mm(w), 76mm(h), 25mm(d); Radiator thermostat: 93mm(h), 51mm(dia) Drayton’s Wiser impressed us last year by being easy to set up and cheap to buy. This year, those two attributes still count, but the company has also made several underlying improvements, including IFTTT and Google Home support.Requires a two-channel Wiser kit ( Wiser Thermostat Kit 2 or Wiser Multi-zone Kit 2), to control the central heating via one channel and hot water via the other. Now that we’re clear what a combi boiler is, some combi boiler systems have two separate heating zones, controlled by two thermostats. CHARACTERISTICS OF COMBI BOILERS (two heating zones)

Looking at my current base plate configuration above, it looks as though I have a L, N, CH ON (3) and (4) ON connection, but no HW OFF (1) connection. Lets say hypothetically I can reroute the landing thermostat wires to the programmer base plate. If I were to do some rewiring how would I translate my current base plate config to the three channel youve highlighted? Its not clear to me what (4) is used for in the two channel set up. Additionally why is there no HW OFF wiring? Is my hot water is being controlled by the (3) or (4) connection erroneously? Do I even have a HW ON connection? Timer and thermostat control of the central heating is available independently of the hot water, due to a cylinder thermostat fitted to the hot water cylinder. A system that was originally fully gravity-fed that has been upgraded/retrofitted with motorised valves, such that the central heating is now fully pumped - a recommended upgrade if full replacement of an older gravity-fed system is not possible.

If, however, but turning on the central heating side, the hot water also turns on, this would indicate a gravity system. ADVANTAGES OF CONVENTIONAL BOILERS (with vented hot water and fully pumped)
