I walked towards it curiously. Duux mentioned the white base as well as a digital circle with 11 on it and some other symbols. I still heard nothing except the cooling wind. It also seems consciously chosen for lightweight and strong ABS plastic to minimize the operating sound, which is a huge difference with metal fans. Remote control also works as it should and operation is simple, so that the smart section is completely unnecessary for my situation and opinion and is not worth the additional price. The telescopic stand is also an advantage with this model to easily adjust the height and was another reason not to go for the Smart. I am happy with my choice for this Duux, also because this turns out to be a Dutch brand and as a Belgian I like to support our friendly northern neighbors with their beautiful and efficient product design! The square tower design is sleek and modern, standing at just over a meter tall, with a silver body. The base is reasonably wide, which keeps it stable, but does take up a reasonable chunk of floor space. There my years and years of searching ended in one fell swoop. At the moment of writing, there is one in my room doing what it has to do: making wind without making any noise. Out of every fan on our list, the Princess Smart fan offers what we think is the best value and balance of features for most people. It’s essentially just a high-quality tower fan with smart features built-in, which should be precisely what you’re looking for. Noise levels, meanwhile, are as close to silent as you’re going to get from a pedestal fan. True, at max speed you’re looking at around 43dB from 1m away (measured with a smartphone in a room with a hard wooden floor), but at the 12 setting this drops to 35dB and at level 1 it’s only 30dB. This is ever so slightly quieter than the two Meaco fans, measured at the same time with the same equipment. Given that the Meacos are among the quietest fans we’ve ever tested, that’s a great result. Until… one day I entered a metropolitan gallery for some “eye candy” of the cultural variety and was almost immediately surprised by a pleasant draft of air. I heard nothing and tried to locate the source.
And it puts out a fair bit of heat too. You’ll likely find yourself turning it off as it really does warm things up– even things like garages or drafty garden offices. Then its time to fit the fan to the base, this slots on easily as long as you make sure to align the larger of the two pins in the motor with the largest of the holes on the base plate.
Assembly is simple and all parts are well and well -arranged. Despite this fan consists largely of plastic, it is in my impression that it has been made sturdy and stable enough and has a nice compact design so that it is nicely absorbed in the interior and also does not stand out due to its silence. For a start, the Whisper Flex Smart has no fewer than 26 different speeds, and the sleep timer works in one-hour increments up to 12 hours. There’s about 90 degrees each of horizontal and vertical oscillation, too – you can switch them on independently or together. While we tend to prefer the more modern and slightly more efficient designs of tower fans, the greater power and airflow of a pedestal fan definitely still has a place in a lot of homes. The Whisper is super powerful and extremely quiet. Due to the smart structure of dual fan blades, the product is up to 7x more powerful than traditional fans. In addition, the Whisper is very quiet with a noise level from 13 decibels. On the downside, it’s one of the more expensive fans and if you don’t need one that will heat as well, you could save money with one of the others on our list.
