This book is book number six in the Perception series. This book can be read as a standalone since Isaac is normally such an insignificant character in the other books. You may not even remember him fully! But not anymore. Isabelle is flying to her new job. Boy, she hates to fly. She is so deathly afraid of flying that on the first leg of her journey, she didn't even let go of her death grip on the armrest the entire flight. Now, she has to do it all over again on the second leg. Thankfully, this is a much shorter flight for her. As she is going through the airport, she literally falls into the most handsome gentleman she has ever seen. He is very much dressed to impress and is a very confident man. As he tries to balance her and help her up with her things, they bump heads again. He can't help but be amused at all that is happening right now. He then invites her to the lounge to wait with him until her flight. She graciously accepts until she realizes how pitifully undressed she would be for a place like that. He tells her it won't matter, and she follows him inside. Once there, he reaches behind the bar like he owns the place. He gets some ice for her eye and gets some glasses for their drink. The bartender brings over the whiskey like he knows exactly what Isaac wants. After the drink, Isabelle realizes she is going to be late for her flight if she doesn't hurry. She thanks her gentleman and runs out the door. Little does she know, he has a plan to see her on the next flight. He helps her calm her nerves and entices her in every way imaginable. She knows she needs to stay away from him. He invites her as a one and done deal to a club that Saturday. After their encounter, she can't get him out of her head. She hopes one day she will see him again but also knows she cannot become involved with him. Ever. There was a lot of mystery and action in this series that keeps you engrossed. Additionally there's a lot of HOT sex which is very well written (if a little unbelievable, but hey...we can dream, right ladies?). The story that spans these four books follows Isaac Holt and Isabelle Brahm, and takes us on a heart-aching, intense, nail biting, incredible, panty melting ride of our lives. This boxed set drew me in right at the beginning of book one and kept me completely enthralled the whole way through to the end of book four. Ms. Boyes is a true genius when it comes to captivating storylines, endearing and interesting characters, scintillating dialogue and vivid descriptive details. If she isn’t on your must-read author list, then she really should be.

Now, Elle I do love her character and I shouldn't be so hard on her weakness because yeah, Isaac can turn me the hell on, so out in the real world I'd probably behave as she does. One huge surprise concerning her, for me was who and what her Father is The first 45% of this book was spent wanting to sleep with Isaac Holt and the other 55% was spent sleeping with Isaac Holt. Enigma: The Complete Collection is a boxed set that contains the first four books in the Enigma series by Shandi Boyes. The four books are; Isabelle, who is new to town, is meeting a friend of her Uncle’s that she will be staying with until she gets on her feet and starts her new job as FBI field agent. Regina, the friend of her uncle, is a fellow police officer who supplies her with a file of the person Isabelle was brought to Ravenshoe to investigate whom lo and behold happens to be Isaac Holt, the man that helped her out on the plane. He is being investigated for potential mob connections and all that that implies.

Isaac Holt lives and breathes his empire. He started it with nothing but his own blood, sweat, and tears. And he has no intentions of letting anything or anyone get in the way of his empire’s success. “My business is my empire. I worked relentlessly for years to get where I am. I eat, breathe, and sleep for my empire. Nothing has ever been able to divert my attention away from my goals and aspirations for the past five years. Nothing at all. Until I saw her.” The her is Isabelle and his eternal weakness. Something about her touches him and makes him have a soft spot for her no matter what he does to try and stay away. Eventually he gives in and tries to make it all about her, and devote himself romantically to her, vowing to be her protector for as long as he is alive. I love writing and reading. They are both my passion. My genre is generally set to new adult and contemporary, with a few twists thrown in. I love that we still have chapters from both Isaac and Isabelle’s POV. We also get to find out more about Regan in this book too, the name floated about in previous books but we formally get introduced to the character in this book! I’m not quite sure I’m going to view cupcake frosting in the same light again thought after this book! Just when Isaac thinks he has everything under control another bombshell is dropped in his lap. Will he be able to let it go and trust Isabelle ever again? “The past month has been unlike anything I’ve ever experienced before. It has been a hazy blur of lust and confusion. There is no doubt in my mind that I loved Ophelia. But I can’t describe my feelings for Isabelle. They are prodigious and unexplainable.” Isaac and Izzy are still our main characters that we are following, but we see a lot of the same supporting people too, like Isaacs right hand man, Hugo, amongst others. Just when Isaac thought he and Izzy were in the clear for the most part and able to focus on a relationship things blow up. Izzy is arrested and being framed for murder. “I knew something wasn’t right when the heaviness that has been plaguing my chest the past week amplified. But I never expected it to be something as mammoth as this. The beautiful, kind-hearted, never says a bad word about anyone, Isabelle has been arrested for murder. You think I would have recognized the signs. The protectiveness she displayed earlier today when I said I didn’t need her to protect me. Her bold statement about not being able to breathe without me in her life. The fact that she allowed her hands to become stained to help my family. They were all signs I should have been watching for. Isabelle’s possessiveness of me is just as paramount as my protectiveness of her. I would do anything in my power to protect her, anything at all. Obviously, Isabelle, fells the same way about me.”

The irony isn't lost on me that I have been yammering on about loving a detailed story but this was just too much. Especially because Isabelle is a snivelling mess who should not call herself an FBI anything. Not even an office attendant. There were so many things that bugged me about this and the list will be below, read at your own risk.She is an FBI agent, but couldn't handle a murder scene. It is explained why she can't handle it but I wished Isabelle could have been a stronger character.

Isabelle lost her family at a young age and was raised by her Uncle Tobias who was a great role model for her. Isabelle is on her way to her new job in a new town when she literally falls down to the feet of the most handsome man with grey eyes she has ever met. She enjoys her plane ride after meeting him because she is scared of flying this perfect (and I mean perfect in every way) stranger helped her through the scary part. Isabelle meets new people and works hard at her job put can’t quit thinking about those eyes and that man who she needs to stay far away from. He is an enigma and she finds herself drawn to him as much as she tries to keep her distance he just always appears and her body is a traitor to her and has a mind of its own when she is near him.It isn’t until fate throws these two into each other’s lives that things get really interesting. She falls at the feet of Isaac Holt and he is smitten with her right away. The first real problem with that is that he doesn’t do relationships or commitments. He has been burned far too badly in the past to go down that road again. “I don’t have time for relationships. If we do this, I need you to be fully aware that this is a one-time-only deal. There won’t be any calls in the morning, no dates next week. One time only.” i think one of my favorite scenes is the one with the quote i put above. the amount of times i’ve seen this quote literally everywhere, it just convinced me to read this book. there are so many scenes i loved, but i’m gonna be honest, i’m gonna stop writing now so i can continue reading unraveling an enigma. these books are so addicting i can’t stop. and i have two arcs i need to read by like tonight but i can’t bring myself to stop reading this story.
