About this deal

We meet Daniel (Holder’s best friend) and Six (Sky’s best friend) in Hopeless. Six and Daniel meet in a closet, although it’s dark and they don’t know one another, they connect. She watches me as I close my lips around the spoon and pull it out of my mouth. She scrunches up her nose, staring at the spoon. “I could have herpes, you know,” she says. I nod and stare out the driver’s side window. I don’t want to look at her, because I’m a guy and she’s hot and I know if I look at her, then my moment of clarity regarding our relationship will become foggy and I’ll end up inside her house, making up with her on her bed like I always do.

Her reaction confuses me. I have no idea how that comment could have offended her. “Uh, have you never been asked out on a date before?” In Finding Cinderella, a novella about the search for happily ever after, a chance encounter in the dark leads Daniel and the girl who stumbles across him to profess their love each other—for just one hour, but it’s only make-believe… Each author has graciously donated their story so that 100% of profits from this anthology will be going to the various charities The Bookworm Box is able to support because of you, the readers.I remain silent until we pull into her driveway. I leave the car running, indicating that I have no plans on going inside with her tonight. Any author who has a memento copy of one of their books printed in “Ermahgerd” is someone who deserves to be read. Also, Finding Cinderella was free, so it was the obvious winner of the “which one should I read?” contest. That’s exactly what this feels like. Like she’s a drug I’ve become immediately addicted to but I have none in supply. The only thing that satiates the craving is her laugh. Or her smile or her kiss or the feel of her pressed against me. These two seventeen year old kids never see each other’s faces, have zero conversations about whether they are tested regularly (after establishing they both have had multiple partners recently) and somehow find a way to go on with their day post-hookup as if nothing has happened.

The romance between them feels natural. I guess some people can label it as insta-love/love-at-first-sight (something I despise with my entire being), but it doesn't feel like that to me. It feels like two people who, from the first moment they met, understood each other on a deeper level. They connected. There's something about Colleen Hoover novellas, I tend to love them more than her full length novels. Which is so rare because most of the time novellas don't have enough. But this book in its entirety and shortness made me fall in love with it.I have a personal problem, so when ever it resurfaces in books, it makes me cringe. So, yes I did cringe and I kind was like, oh boy it went there. I think it would have been easier on me if it wasn't a novella and I got more character development or I was more wrapped in the story, but I can't fault anyone for that, b/c it's novella. I’ve never had sushi,” I admit, trying to process the fact that I’m pretty sure she just agreed to go out on a date with me.

I haven’t been to that school since junior year,” she says. “But I’ll be there once Monday rolls around.” She says it like she’s not at all looking forward to it.

Colleen Hoover® Signed Copies

He has quite an encounter with a mystery girl who stumbles into that closet he's been hiding out in. A tragic love story, Layla follows a young couple, Layla and Leeds, whose love is interrupted by a tragic accident that leaves Layla fighting for her life. Soon, Layla recovers physically, but the mental scars remain. The couple visit the bed-and-breakfast where their love began, but Layla’s strange behavior puts a strain on their relationship, pushing Leeds into the arms of another guest. Love triangles ahead! A continuation of the Hopeless trilogy, this free novella begins with a chance encounter between two teenagers who pretend to fall in love but only for one hour. When the hour is up, one of the pretend lovers is left to wonder if those moments of fake love were real. Fast forward one year, Daniel meets a strange girl named Six who forces him to believe in love at first sight. I’m assuming if you are a fan of NA, Finding Cinderella is one that could receive a much higher rating along with a rave review, but please note a 3 Star rating from me is pretty dang solid. Even though I saw the big “a-ha” moment WAY before it ever came to light, it was still pretty much alright with me. Colleen Hoover writes a decent story with relatable characters who have great wit about them. I didn't have high expectations going in and was pleasantly surprised by how much I actually enjoyed myself. And while I assumed the main characters would have to experience "instalove" (if for no other reason than the fact that this was a novella), what I didn't expect was that I would end up kind of loving Daniel: Adding even more fuel to the dumpster fire that is this book - it results in a pregnancy and the baby is discussed and dismissed after less than 5 minutes. Truly the ONLY saving grace keeping this from receiving zero stars is that she made an adoption plan for the child rather than had an abortion. At least there’s that.
