About this deal

Sound quality is further improved and customized by using Jaybird’s in-app equalizer. More on the Jaybird App below. Jaybird almost completely overhauled the Vista the second time around, making it even more durable than before. In fact, the Jaybird Vista 2 are the most resilient true wireless sports headphones on the market with their IP68 rating (the Vista was 'only' IPX7). Read more about it here: what are the best waterproof headphones for running? As is usually the case, I’ve had ZERO dropouts on any of my workouts with the Garmin FR945 LTE. This is pretty similar with most recent Garmin watches (compared to the first few models of watches where they added music connectivity). These days, most headphone companies that focus on sports, and most watch companies that do music, have figured out how to work together happily. And in this case, it was indeed happily.” The Vista 2 are very easy to set up via Bluetooth, with or without the app. Do it without the app, and you can press the button inside of the case and wait for the lights on the outside of the case to start blinking to start the pairing process. We paired with a range of devices including phones (Android and iPhone), a laptop, the Hydrow connected rowing machine, a Garmin watch, and the Apple Watch. We had no issues with pairing and never suffered any kind of Bluetooth dropout.

Charging case size: Vista 2’s charging case is relatively large, which may be inconvenient for some users. Jaybird may consider downsizing the charging case or offering different size options in Vista 3. The Vistas time as well as any runner’s pacer app. There’s a fair dollop of detail on offer – we easily hear Freddie utter “all right” during May’s instrumental electric guitar section. As Another One Bites the Dust begins, there’s no shortage of excitement and clout through the initial driving bass guitar riff, or dynamic build through an impressive crescendo. The Vistas are punchy, perky performers. Touch Response Functions: Control music, ANC control (on, off, SurroundSense mode), Receive / end calls, Volume up and down The most important thing with any wireless earbuds is how they fit — and that's even more true when it comes to workout earbuds. If they don't stay in your ears and you're bobbing and weaving, squatting and planking, then you're doomed. And by ‘moving’, I mean anything at running or riding pace. While I’ve been trying many different modes over the last week, I spent half my bike commute this morning trying every possible option for ANC & SurroundSense to see if any were viable, and simply put – none were. These sorts of certifications are often used in marketing (as is exactly the case here). But at the same time, passing even the bulk of these types of certifications requirements means enough engineering to not kill the device through any given test. And more importantly, these tend to have surprisingly similar overlap to sports, especially endurance sports. I also noticed during the initial setup process that pairing the Jaybird Vista 2 to my iPhone 12 Pro was much faster than previous generation Jaybird headphones. To pair the Jaybird wireless bluetooth earbuds to your phone, place the earbuds in the charging case and tap the small button inside. This process is so much easier and faster than it used to be. They’ve also completed testing against MIL-STD-810G, which is a US military standard for how you can test devices in certain environmental conditions. Jaybird says they aren’t aligning to any military here, but simply noting that their product exceeds ruggedness standards that are well defined in this spec. One of our favourite design features in the Vista earbuds, however, is their impressive IPX7 water resistance, which not only makes them super-rugged but will see them survive a drop in up to one meter of water for 30 minutes. This doesn’t mean they’re suitable for swimming but it is a worthwhile feature for the accident-prone or those crazy people who like to exercise in the rain.

Now, unfortunately, there’s no Apple Find My integration here. I know Android users don’t care about that, but for iOS users I was really hoping we’d see Find My UWB integration like on Belkin’s Soundform Freedom True new earphones. That’d be amazeballs here. And I think realistically, going forward, it’s gotta be standard in this category for anyone that’s not a phone maker (e.g. Samsung with their buds). It’s a massive selling point for iOS users, who realistically make up the majority of this particular market (and we all know Apple will undoubtedly launch Find My via UWB baked into the next iteration of AirPod Pro or PowerBeats Pro). You can also sync them to Jaybird’s nifty app, which allows you to opt for a different style of your audio through a selection of EQ options. There’s even the option to tweak it to your own tastes. Put simply, Surround Sense uses built-in microphones, which are wind guarded with a special fabric covering (more on that later), to monitor ambient noises which can then be amplified and mixed into your current audio signal – this gives you increased awareness of ambient noise surrounding you. This feature has been so awesome while running – I instantly feel safer, knowing that I can accurately hear cars, bikes, and other people. By the way, I have another pair of earbuds (Sennheiser Momentum True Wireless) and they work fine with the Garmin FR945.The Vista 2 offer noise cancellation along with Jaybird's SurroundSense – this is an ambient aware mode that lets in some outside sound to keep you aware of your surroundings. Thanks to the physical controls rather than touch panels, they're easy to use while exercising, and total battery life stands at a very respectable 24 hours. When it comes to personalised fit, the Vista 2 buds offer the same three Secure-Fit Eargels options (1/2/3 or S/M/L). As much as I don't like fiddling around with ear and wing tips, this integrated Eargel-approach certainly makes it harder to find the perfect fit for every ear. I appreciate that Jaybird is trying to make the process hassle-free, but considering how different people's ears are, it would be better to have an option to customise the ear tips and wing tips separately. The comfort helps justify the slightly higher price, but it's not the only string to Jaybird's bow. Additionally, you can turn ‘Auto-Pause’ off or on in the menus, as well as change the language of the voice in your head. So things like connection notifications can be in English (US or UK), Spanish, French, German, Japanese, Korean, or Mandarin. And you can turn off those voices entirely, and simply use tones instead.

Added Find my Case: The case actually has GPS in it, but that only works when in range of Bluetooth Once paired up to a watch, there’s no additional configuration that you can do, aside from basic controls (start/stop/volume). However, if you predefine the sound management options to be one of your earbud tap options, then you can access that mid-workout – allowing you to iterate through the three main sound management modes. Which, is as good a time as any to discuss them.control buttons on full wireless models usually require pressure to activate the button which jams the headphone deeper into your ear or use too-sensitive touch controls, while the wired between the ears models have a control box that doesn’t need to be jammed into the ear. Connectivity-wise the buds feature Bluetooth 5 and JBS1 wireless technology. The tech works a treat and meant the Vista were able to maintain a connection and continue pumping out audio in busy signal areas that made my Galaxy Buds and Amps Air 2.0 all but unusable. The Beats Fit Pro are the more well-rounded wireless earbuds — and the obvious choice for anybody who has an iPhone. They works very similarly to many of Apple's AirPods, and because they doesn't fit quite as snug, they're actually more comfortable to wear for longer sessions. So if you have an iPhone and you're looking for wireless earbuds to both work out in and wear for casual listening, go with the Beats Fit Pro. As is usually the case, I’ve had ZERO dropouts on any of my workouts with the Garmin FR945 LTE. This is pretty similar to most recent Garmin watches (compared to the first few models of watches where they added music connectivity). These days, most headphone companies that focus on sports, and most watch companies that do music, have figured out how to work together happily. And in this case, it was indeed happily. Finally, note that on the outside of the buds you’ll see a new fabric-looking section. That’s what Jaybird calls their ‘WindDefense’ fabric, which aims to act like a dead-cat on a microphone, and reduce wind noises before they get to the mics. Both earbuds have mics in them, as each side can be used independently in a singular mode, as some people prefer only using one bud at a time for awareness reasons.

The Jabra Elite 7 Active buds are a significant update over the Jabra Elite Active 75t and offer more personalised sound and ANC, better fit via the ShakeGrip coating and even improved call performance thanks to the three-microphone-per-bud setup. If you aren't too keen on wing tips/ear hooks, the Elite 7 Active are your best option for running headphones. The Jaybird Vista 2 are great true wireless earbuds for all kinds of purposes, whether you're at the gym, commuting, or sat in the office. But they're definitely designed with movement in mind. For true wireless earbuds with active noise canceling, being able to get 24 hours of total use is pretty awesome. A single use of the earbuds will get you 8 hours of play time without ANC on, and 6 hours with ANC. They're not perfect, especially if you're on a budget, want best in class noise cancellation or you're looking for a long battery life. But they're a solid pair of all-rounder true wireless earbuds that make fantastic exercise companions. Also consider... While there’s a marginal compromise involved, the Vista’s sonic performance is more than good enough to get you through a proper workout. This is a frontrunner in the niche, true wireless sport category.

Also, I can’t quite understand the draw for in-ear wireless headphones. I much prefer the wireless models with a cable between the two ear-buds because Jaybird may have been one of the first in the sports headphones market, but it's far from the only player. Pretty much every major headphone manufacturer now has a wireless sports pair to rival Jaybird's, and most of them are a little cheaper, too. So why should you consider Jaybird over the likes of Sony, Bose and JBL?
