a b c Mateo, Alex (April 5, 2022). "My Happy Marriage Novel Series Gets TV Anime". Anime News Network . Retrieved April 5, 2022. Since many people say female lead change ONLY because of the male lead and some men around her, I will say this. There are some people who give her confidence, it's mainly Yurie (woman) and male lead, and Kouji also support her in those dark years even if not much to improve her psychological state and condition, so it's not only male lead. Hana (woman), her maid also give her support in those dark years. Everyone who think it's only male lead or only men around her, PLEASE READ AGAIN PROPERLY). Yurie really contribute a lot in her growth, without Yurie, I don't think male lead will be able to give Miyo support because male lead know how to handle Miyo mainly because of Yurie's advice. Some recap of the storyline (contains spoilers): FL is treated as absolute dirt, and then is married off to a seemingly super cold elite ML. Some misunderstandings happen, then the nice old lady (close to ML since he was a child) communicates between two of them and solves the miscommunication. ML warms up to her as he sees her kindness and gradually learns about her past. FL very slowly grows confidence (yay character development!). That's a very sweet relationship. Then, SPOILERS... Her family falls to ruin. Take that, FL's crappy family! I hate FL's sister and I was satisfied to see the retribution. From the light novel, FL discovers she has the power everyone wants. storyline is pure cliche. And don't get me wrong, I enjoy a cliche done right, which it's not the case here. It was just boring and looked like a manga that I would read in the 2000's. Villains that the only reason they are villains it's because they hate the FL and because they are bad people, like seriously?

Cinderella stories have a specific romantic fantasy: that a mistreated girl can be valued for herself, rather than what she can do, or any wealth, and you see that here. The first 3 books in this series form an arc, following Miyo's move to being Kudo's fiancee and them cautiously learning about each other, while other people try to machinate in the shadows. And in fact, there's such a climax to this in the third book that I wondered if it was going to be just a 3-book series, because it appears to be wrapping up a lot. Miyo's sense of self-worth is pretty much in tatters at the start of the story, so it's mostly about her regaining confidence and finding love. And obviously, Kyoka has his own issues of trust/dealing with women, so the story is basically about two awkward people learning to slowly connect. There are plenty of things happening around that (Miyo's family, her mother's family, Kyouya's family, etc.), but it's kind of a mellow series. Although there is some pretty intense drama with ability users fighting, so far, it hasn't been on a large scale. Overall, another powerful and moving volume! I think there will be a calm before the storm, but hoping it's just me being paranoid because with the new goal Miyo is setting her mind to, I desperately want to see her succeed and thrive in her new life. Komatsu, Mikikazu (March 20, 2023). "Japan Box Office Top 10: My Happy Marriage Live-Action Film Tops in Opening Weekend". Crunchyroll . Retrieved June 4, 2023. Premetto dicendo che, prima di iniziare il manga de "Il mio matrimonio felice", ho visto l'anime (con il quale sono attualmente in pari con gli episodi usciti). In 2020, the manga adaptation ranked eighth in the sixth Next Manga Awards in the web manga category. [66] It ranked sixth in the 2021 edition of Takarajimasha's Kono Manga ga Sugoi! list of the best manga for female readers. [67] The manga ranked first in the "Nationwide Bookstore Employees' Recommended Comics of 2021" list by Japanese bookstore Honya Club. Pineda, Rafael Antonio (July 6, 2023). "Montreal's Fantasia Fest to Screen The Concierge, Sand Land, The First Slam Dunk, 16 More Japanese Works". Anime News Network . Retrieved September 18, 2023. Thankfully the "arc"(?) wrapped up in a happy and powerful way because I really don't think my heart could have handled seeing Miyo experience any more pain. Kudo's softness in his actions towards her and the way he shows love really makes this story a beautiful one of healing. Or at least the beginning of a path that leads to healing! A "Cinderella"-inspired slow-burn historical romance with a paranormal twist set in Meiji-era Japan!

Oh, I read this recently and quite enjoyed it. It's a sort of Cinderella in a light-fantasy Meiji-era Japan. Kiyoka, Ookaito and Kazushi are given an audience with Prince Takaihito who reveals that the imperial capital will be invaded by the Grotesqueries. Soon after, Takaihito congratulates Kiyoka on his engagement with Miyo. Meanwhile, Miyo learns the Western etiquettes for the upcoming party. After her lesson with Hazuki, she ponders over the meaning of family. As Kiyoka worries over Miyo's nightmares, he sends Iwashimizu to gather information on the Usuba family. Later, Kiyoka meets the Ministry of the Imperial House's messenger Arata Tsuruki for the discussion about the investigation. That night, Kiyoka and his subordinates encounter the Grotesqueries and destroy them. The next morning, Miyo encounters Arata when she suddenly collapses during her training day.

The premise is that certain families hold special powers which help them maintain their status. Miyo is the oldest daughter of the Saimori, one of the families which is on the decline. Even though her mother was from a very-highly regarded clan of people with powers, she herself doesn't have any, which means that she has spent her entire life being horribly bullied by her stepmother and half-sister. Her family sends her off as a bride candidate for the young master of the most powerful family, who is notorious for, you guessed it, turning down all candidates. They're convinced that she's going to be sent away in shame, but Kyoka (and his adorable middle-aged servant) actually take to her, which is where the "happy marriage" part comes in.

Updated Review 6/14/23: I had been putting off rereading this first volume because I vividly remembered the heartbreak that Miyo goes through and wasn't sure if I was ready or not. As a light novel series originally, readers can count on My Happy Marriage being an extremely story-driven series, with the narrative firmly fixed on Miyo and Kiyoka. That being said, the series’ listed genre of “Fantasy” would suggest there is a wondrous and amazing world for lore-lovers to immerse themselves in. But all in all, as I read the story, I didn't feel anything much. Just, meh. It felt like the author was just trying to make her suffer as much as possible and then power up everything to be in her favour. a b 「わたしの幸せな結婚」マンガ版が開幕、結婚から始まる和風ファンタジー. Natalie (in Japanese). Natasha, Inc. December 20, 2018 . Retrieved April 5, 2022.
