The Pro 1000 has a more minimalistic design. A small rubber grip around the power button compared to the large rubber grip running the full length of the Pro 2 2000’s handle. Specifications and cleaning ability are the same on the variants. What differs is the exact model name, the brush head supplied, the colour of the rubber grip on the handle and the box contents. Therefore a retailer may sell the Pro 2 2000N and the Pro 2 2500N both of which come with the CrossAction brush head. Because of my bad experience with the Oral-B battery I initially wanted to buy a Philips Sonicare DiamondClean but the ones with all bells and whistles (Philips Sonicare DiamondClean Smart HX9924/03) was more than twice as expensive as the Genius 9000. So at the end a bought a couple of Oral-B PRO 2 2000N ’s and one Oral-B Genius 9000N to see how the very best and best value differ in daily use.

The last difference, which I touch upon in a section of this comparison below is the price. The Pro 2000 is the cheaper of the 2 brushes. For a toothbrush in the Professional Care range like the Pro-2000 the App provides a two-minute timer that gives a visual guide of the four quadrants of the mouth so you can focus on making sure you are brushing every area equally. Provided you have brushed for more than 30 seconds, The App will record your brush time and add it to your personlised cleaning activity. While you move the brush around your mouth, Oral-B's unique round head does all the rest. It removes up to 100% more plaque than a standard manual toothbrush, helping you to achieve healthier gums and a whiter smile, as of the first day of brushing by removing surface stains. The Oral-B Pro 2 2500 looks like an expensive electric toothbrush and feels solid in the hand. It features a slimline body, which is easy to grip. Although if you do suffer from arthritis of the hand, it may be on the too thin side. These 2 brushes fall at the lower end of the electric toothbrush range from Oral-B, but they offer most of what you need of an electric toothbrush at a good price point.If you have ever looked at the prices of electric brushes before, you might have realised that the actual selling prices tend to be quite a bit cheaper. The Pro 3 3000 has 3 cleaning modes (Daily Clean, Sensitive & Whitening) compared to the 2 modes (Daily Clean & Sensitive) of the Pro 2 2000. Although the Oral-B Pro 2000 is a fairly simple and straightforward toothbrush, it still has all the features you need in an electric power brush, notably –

Perhaps long term the benefits and effects of the more powerful motor are noticeable, so for peace of mind, there is an appeal to opt for the Pro 2 2000. Pressing too hard with an electric toothbrush is fairly easy to do (I make this mistake frequently). If you press too firmly often, this can lead to a type of tooth wear known as toothbrush abrasion. This is where the bristles of the toothbrush start wearing away the enamel and dentine of the tooth, ultimately resulting in sensitivity.

Precision Clean

What I add on to this is, it is easier to clean properly with an electric toothbrush that oscillates 8,800 per minute and pulsates 40,000 per minute. My analogy is this, if you were trying to reach 100mph would it be easier to do it in a Ford KA or a Ferrari? You could probably do it in both, but one would be significantly easier that the other. The Pro 2 2000 comes with 3 different brush heads (CrossAction, 3D White or Sensi UltraThin) compared to the 4 brush heads (CrossAction, 3D White, Charcoal & Sensi UltraThin) of the Pro 3 3000. The Oral-B Pro 2000, 3000 and 2500 all use the 3D oscillating rotating mechanism of action at 40,000 pulsations and 8,800 oscillations per minute. They will therefore clean your teeth with the same power on the daily clean mode. The Oral-B Pro 3000 trumps the others by being able to adjust the pulsations and oscillations with a sensitive cleaning mode. If you do not have sensitive teeth, this function will be irrelevant for you.
