About this deal

Soleplates are inevitably ceramic on modern irons. Weight may also be a consideration for you – a heavier iron may actually aid in getting wrinkles out faster, but can be tiring on the arms. If Phoenix Gold Steam Iron cannot efficiently eliminate wrinkles on your fabric, find out below what can you do to fix them: Various noises such as pumping and wheezing can be noticed while using the steam iron. You can learn more about this trouble here:

On a synthetic setting it started off at 95ºC, but soon fell to 65ºC. On a medium wool setting it started out 152ºC, then fell to 97ºC. On the hottest cotton setting it started out 175ºC but was soon almost half that at 90ºC – which meant it was far too cool to pump out steam. So if you were having to walk any distance to steam clothes, by the time you got there it would be too late. Breville’s iron isn’t called the DiamondXpress for no reason: you’ll find actual crushed diamonds in the soleplate, which Breville says improves longevity as well as glide. The iron is light and has a slightly smaller soleplate than some of the others we tested; however, the soleplate is wide and multi-directional which makes it very easy to manoeuvre around an ironing board. It was also one of the most stable irons in a standing position and has a nice, soft handle that feels comfortable in the hand. There’s also plenty of steam produced, making it easy to remove wrinkles without too much effort.

There are three settings for steam on the iron and a concentrated steam zone at the front of the iron to make it easier to remove creases. It also works as a vertical steamer, although you’ll probably still need to iron the fiddlier parts of a garment flat. Designed for reliable everyday performance, the smooth ceramic soleplate effortlessly glides over fabrics, delivering a smooth, crease-free result, even on delicate fabrics. One of them is the ceramic soleplate that helps with easy gliding. Also, you can now bid your goodbyes about worrying about the scratches.

Key details – Size: 31 x 19.1 x 16cm; Power: 2,400W; Capacity: 250ml water tank; Water jug included: No; Continuous steam output: 35g/min; Weight: 1.83kg; Features: Ceramic soleplate, anti-scale, anti-drip, self-clean, charging lights, auto-off Beldray’s big selling point, though, is the steam feature – this iron produces lots of steam. Although its continuous steam is only measured at 30g/min. which is plenty powerful enough in our opinion, the iron has a steam boost of 140g/min, making it extremely good for stubborn creases and wrinkles. Our only niggle? The iron was a little awkward to lift on and off the base, although this may well loosen up over time. Anti-drip System: This system cools down the soleplate until no steam releases anymore but instead drains of boiling water that can potentially transmit stains. Dial the steam selector to turn it off, and the Anti-drip will be activated to limit the risk of staining your cloth. An anti-drip feature will stop water from leaking onto your ironing. Some models also have anti-scale and anti-calc features, alongside a self-clean mode – all useful but not essential.Another factor to consider is the size of the iron’s water tank. A smaller tank means more refills, which is going to slow you down. Look for a tank capacity of at least 300ml if you plan to do a fair amount of ironing in one go. Pumping noise is coming inside the iron: If your Phoenix Gold Iron makes a noise, doesn’t produce steam anymore, does not heat up, and creates a pumping noise, the problem must be the water system of your iron. Anti-scale for hassle free maintenance. Anti-drip system to protect your clothes from water spillages. Steam from the soleplate causes an annoying wheezing sound: What causes the wheezing-like sound is the high-pressure steam produced by your Phoenix Gold Steam Iron. Rest assured that this sound is typical for steam irons with high-pressure steam.
