As well as the Shatter Me series Mafi has also written The Furthermore Series aimed at 9-14-year-olds and the YA novel A Very Large Expanse of Sea. A Very Large Expanse of Sea follows Shirin, a sixteen-year-old Muslim girl who's tired of the abuse she receives because of her race and religion until she meets Ocean James. He is the first person who wants to get to know her and is interested in what she has to say. In full disclosure, it’s been a really long time since I read the the first batch of Shatter Me books. these books will make you feel a lot of emotions and will make you care for the characters and for the plot. What the novellas do is provide extra insight into the world of Shatter Me. They’re often from a different POV. For instance, Destroy Me, the first novella, is from Warner’s POV. He is the villain of the first novel.Another big secret is revealed, and through a unique power further detailed in the book, Adam is resistant to Juliette’s touch of death. From this love for one another, Adam is convinced to rescue Juliette and together they escape the asylum. However, not before Juliette shoots Aaron to escape and it is revealed he is also resistant to Juliette’s touch. By the end of the book, Adam, Adam’s brother James, his friend Kenji and Juliette join a rebellion group against The Reestablishment. Following Juliette Ferrars’ Story Adam has the personality of a potato. An especially bland potato. He is boring and dull and all he has going for him is his ridiculous insta-love for Juliette. I HATE INSTA-LOVE. They tried to play it off as childhood sweethearts but seriously she let someone cheat off her when she was nine and suddenly Adam thinks she’s gods gift. He treats her like some kind sweet innocent little flower that he needs to protect. She’s a kind person, that doesn’t make her an endangered species Adam, jeez. Juliette is tough under all her whining, anyone could see that. She needs to be pushed and challenged to wake up the real Juliette inside, not coddled. Okay, I have not properly reviewed this series since I read it a year ago (and I don't think I ever can because it would be ridiculously long and the book is so quotable that I would literally be citing the entire thing) but Shatter Me is one of my favorite series of ALL TIME. I just found that fan video the other day and I can't stop watching it. I'm sorry but if that doesn't make you want to read this book you do not have a soul. READ. THIS. BOOK. You will either love it or hate it (depending on how you feel about prose) but if you love it than O.M.G. you will love it like you've loved nothing else. In April 2017, it was announced that Mafi would be releasing three more books in the Shatter Me series [16] starting with Restore Me, which was published on March 6, 2018. A novella entitled Shadow Me, told from Kenji's perspective, was released on March 5, 2019. A month later, the fifth book in the series, Defy Me, was released. The sixth and final main installment of Shatter Me, titled "Imagine Me", was released on March 31, 2020.

There’s some comedic relief thanks to the character Kenji. His character is pretty funny and almost every interaction he and Warner have made me smile. (It’s not because they get along though teehee). Con le dovute differenze, soprattutto in termini di standard qualitativi, a tratti mi sembrava di rivedere a tratti gli schemi narrativi di "A Court of Thorns and Roses". Forse perché gli scrittori YA ormai hanno tutti la stessa impostazione. Juliette/Feyre, Adam/Tamlin e Warner/Rhysand (soprattutto quest'ultimo paragone mi ha fatto accapponare la pelle in più di un'occasione visto che viene ripresa in tanti dettagli diversi, compreso l'intercalare con cui si rivolgono alle loro tipelle – At one point she was like "I have to show everyone I am strong! I know what to do! I'll shave off my hair" 🤣🤣 Now I am left with the crushing decision of whether or not I try book two (since I, like an idiot, already bought it) or if I just march the whole trilogy down to my favorite used book store and hope the fact that this series is about to have a new book published gets me top dollar.I won't say I hate Adam, I love the guy though he's really cheesy and it's kinda lame BUT he's a guy who need a sweet girl and Juliette might be silent when people bullied her but she is not weak or sweet. For someone to be able to stay sane, calm in an asylum for so many days, you had to have a strong mental psychic. And when she found out she was not the only one with ability, she started feeling better about herself, 'she was not a freak'. Which was something Warner insisted on. To any girl who meets a boy who was "broken" by the way someone in his life treated him, who gets treated horribly by this boy -- run. His brokenness does not make it okay for him to hurt you. His brokenness does not mean that he deserves your forgiveness. There are plenty of people who suffer abuse and do not lash out and abuse the people they "love."
