I have to be honest, the author, Saeki-san, have the exact same taste of developing a super sweet and wholesome romance as I do. It’s as if Saeki-san has put my longed imagination of wholesome romance into a real work of fiction. The characters, Fujimiya Amane and Shiina Mahiru, their personalities, and a very tasteful “slow and steady” romance. I simply fell in love with it. Everything about this show is a whole bunch of predictable here and there. For an icing in the cake, they added a very common tropes that we all had known very long ago, there are no single uncommon tropes here except the fact that the heroine know exactly where our main protagonist house is despite the fact that they talk less in the first episode, which is weird. Now, I’m an avid enjoyer of a show and never read of their LN’s or Mangas. So probably she did something before that’s why he knows his house, but whatever this is the small detail that I just cant help to point out. Also the kind of tropes “ohh, she lives near me, coincidently”. You can’t count how many times this trope has already exist, even the latest, long lasting (boring) anime with three season about rent a girlfriend has this kind of tropes already. But we’re not going to discuss about that. The only good thing came in this show is that it doesn’t have any kind of bullshit harems (which I purely respect, because I love how there’s no love is war stuff). Well, of course there have to be the downside of it, because the nature of this show, there has to be an influence between the third party (or themselves), so they can “naturally” progress through the story. Well its nothing bad, its just super common that I grew bored of it, probably because of the execution, it forgets me about this part. Well despite of that, the story is actually chill and gives off a really natural vibe of romance about “looking at someone without judging them from their looks” pretty ironic that their looks is actually the “prince and princesses” tropes. What if their looks was actually “beauty and the beast”. Then it would be a different story.The series is, at its core, the romance between a fairly unremarkable male protagonist and a heroine who seems to be an embodiment of all that is good in the world. I don't really have an issue with 'ideal girlfriend' fiction in and of itself, but Tenshi-sama suffers from a crippling problem in execution The author has endeavored to try to give Mahiru superhuman appeal in every single facet and does not hesitate to scream in the reader's face about her loveliness every other line. In what I would've considered parodic fashion if I didn't know better, every single action Mahiru takes is accompanied by a flurry of adjectives about how cute or beautiful or charming she is, like the author thinks we're amnesiacs who need reminding every five seconds that yes, Mahiru is a girl with attractive qualities. The absurd levels of grandstanding are so distracting it completely destroys the notion that Mahiru is anything but an artificial creation of the author's delusions. Rather than feeling like a real character, Mahiru feels like a shallow caricature of similar heroines in its genre. She often wears somewhat trendy, if high-quality, and practical clothes. They are still also modest, and generally not too revealing, which exemplifies her humble and unassuming personality.

As I write this review, the more I think that this novel isn’t really “special” or ground-breaking for it to have an objectively 10/10 score and claim it as one of the timeless masterpiece. But I will give it a 10/10 anyway since I feel super comfortable and I genuinely had a great time reading this novel. And thus, it is indeed special for me. Development of characters is next, and because of how Saeki-san set up the series, the slow-burn romance feels a lot more natural than most other works, and Amane and Mahiru’s feelings developing for each over time is addicting and intriguing. It's repetitive for sure, and I'm sure the author was aware of this. Still, each appearance gets mixed up a little each time enough. A new situation is brought up each time as a different topic of discussion, and the cute relationship that forms between our main couple gets better and better. After a long, unrequited love, Amane and Mahiru took a step forward into a new relationship. They closed the distance bit by bit, baffled by each other's inexperience. Amane’s confusing and frustrating life with the angel continues. Spending New Year’s Eve and Valentine's Day with Mahiru only leaves him more unsure about his feelings toward the beautiful girl. Could it be that his clumsy warmth is slowly melting the angel’s cold facade? Frankly, while this LN likely does nothing new or groundbreaking, I doubt I ever encountered a story that was even remotely as satisfying to read as this one.
