The two most energy-efficient fans we've tested are the Duux Whisper Flex Ultimate Fan which uses just 3 watts of power on its lowest settings, rising to 32 watts on its highest settings, and the MeacoFan 1056 Air Circulator, which uses 9.5 watts on low and just 23.5 watts on its super-powerful highest setting thanks to its DC motor. This model uses a water tank, which lasts for between four and nine hours, depending on the temperature and humidity level. In either case, it’s enough water to get you through most of a hot night. We found this a good fan for small- to medium-sized rooms. On its high setting, the fan reached an airspeed of 3.2m/s at a distance of 15cm. That’s good but there are more powerful fans that are better suited to larger rooms. At this speed, we found that the fan wobbled slightly, too. At 1m distance, the fan speed was still a decent 2.2m/s, providing a noticeable cool airflow. We were impressed with how quiet this fan was: at 15cm, we measured it at 66.2dB, and at 1m, it was just 50.3dB. Not all fans come with a timer function, a feature that can be especially useful if you plan to use your fan at night to help you fall asleep when it's warm, but don't want it running all night. If this is important to you, then investing a little more for this feature could be worth it for the energy you'll save. Remote controlTo find you the best bladeless fans on the market, I examined several models to fit various budgets and assessed each unit individually. I considered the overall design, features, ease of use, energy efficiency, and the value for money spent. Here are the different factors I examined when studying each of those elements: We’ve tested dozens of fans and space heaters at The Lab and in our own homes, as well as researched additional combination fan heaters that fit our requirements. All options were evaluated on performance, design, safety features, noise levels, portability, and value.
