About this deal

Sex for Solace: As Days of Blindness wear on, Tieron strikes up a romance with Anna-Murza Jek to cope with the stress. They break it off once the immediate crisis passes. Karma Houdini: Not counting their losses in the battle with the Custodes, the Minotaurs are never punished for siding with Imperium Eterna, despite the fact that assaulting the Custodians would spell death for any other Chapter.

When I read this book, I was set on giving it two stars. That did not feel entirely fair. Sure, the terribad language overshadowed everything, but the book itself wasn't that bad? What was this book about? I kind of remembered one long ongoing conflict but could not remember details of when, where or why. I decided to re read the entire book. In the second book, Valerian finds himself realizing that he enjoys true battle, and can't keep still in the Imperial Palace the way he used to.We Are Not Going Through That Again: At the end of The Emperor's Legion, Guilliman offers Tieron the position of his personal remembrancer - basically, a biographer who'd go with him to observe the Indomitus Crusade - as a reward for his services. Tieron decides that he's had quite enough excitement in the past few months, thank you very much, and chooses to comfortably retire instead. Huge Guy, Tiny Girl: While Aleya isn't all that tiny by human standards, she tends to fight alongside Valerian, who, as a Custodian, is almost twice her height. Sole Survivor: Aleya begins the story as the only survivor of her sisterhood. Once she arrives on Terra, she finds that many other Sisters are also last of their own groups. Maybe Magic, Maybe Mundane: Several people note that in his determination to release the Custodes, Tieron is acting extremely unlike his usual self. Some suggest that he simply found a cause worth fighting for, while others wonder if the Emperor isn't acting through him. Tieron himself is unsure. Meanwhile Abaddon looks out over another failure and his like *Ugh* no more. so he jumps with his men(Yeah that's right he jumps out on a planet that he just aimed a Death Star a moments ago). Abaddon launches the next assault. Long story short again, lots of fighting, lots of pew pew pew. Sisters of Battle had alot of moments in this enough for the collectors to pray for a "Plastic Sisters" to be release in 2017 BUT NOOOOOOOOOOO...

The Speechless: As a Sister of Silence, Aleya has taken a vow to never speak a word. When she has to communicate with others, she does so in Hand Signals, though there are only a few people who can understand it. She lets out a battle cry at the very end of The Emperor's Legion, as she believes she's about to die. Some Custodes ponder that the Grey Knights might be a better embodiment of the Emperors legacy other than themselves because they were "His last great weapon". This is something that they never speak out loud, but amongst them it persists. At one point, Tieron learns about a war over Fenris (itself the focus of "Wrath of Magnus" tabletop campaign), and has to put it aside because of all the other stuff happening. He does try to leverage the news to support his plan to release the Custodes. And now, thanks to the actions of one man, the forgotten elites of history return to the forefront of a galactic war thousands of years in the making. As Abaddon the Despoiler finally breaks past the Imperial war-girdle at the Cadian Gate, as a massive warp storm ruptures the galaxy in half, as the Aeldari suffer apocalyptic losses and set themselves on a path towards a race-wide spiritual resurrection, it is up to the Custodes and the Silent Sisterhood to keep Terra safe. For should the Throneworld fall and the Emperor with it, then all hope for a bright future for Mankind will end and the Chaos Gods will triumph. The Unfought: Asterion Moloc, the Minotaurs' Chapter Master, is hyped up as an extremely deadly warrior, and his men serve as The Heavies throughout the second book, but despite coming within inches of battling Valerian, the new Master of the Administratum convinces him to leave before the two can come to blows.

Q: Given everything you have done over Jaghatai Khan: Warhawk of Chogoris , Scars and The Path of Heaven , what are the chances that we’ll we see Jaghatai Khan take on the ascended Mortarion during the Siege of Terra? A: We’ll see the White Scars at the Siege, of course, which will be the conclusion of their long arc throughout the series. I’m really looking forward to being around for their send-off. At present, the intention is that that will be the end for them and me – I don’t have any plans to continue their story beyond the climax at the Palace. This also isn't intended as a book review, though I will say I really enjoyed it's three protagonists and it's documentarian style and would thoroughly recommend Because I found it to be a stellar read, but even more so for Custodes and (to a lesser extent) Sisters of Silence fans. The next is about "what is unknown" and what he didn't get a chance to explain, like what his intentions of the Imperium as it currently stands. Watchers of the Throne is a bold examination of the consequences of Warzone: Fenris and The Gathering Storm. It is balancing act of complementary stories and musings which ultimately provide a framework to understanding what has transpired.

No doubt there will be many White Scars stories to come, both in the Scouring and beyond, but I do like the idea of writing a complete narrative, with a beginning, middle and end, before the baton is passed on to someone else. In Warhammer 40,000, of course, we already have Robbie MacNiven’s brilliant White Scars stories, so I don’t think fans will be short of material. In terms of the Space Wolves, given my schedule, I’m not sure that I’ll be doing any more with them either, although I do have the long-postponed third book in my Warhammer 40,000 trilogy to attend to. (See below…) The Custodes have these two distinct groupings for their theology focused the Emperor. and spend countless hours studying, discussing and debating amongst themselves. They are the speculum certus and speculum obscurus.
