About this deal

The Audeze Maxwell comes in two console-specific variants: Xbox and PlayStation. The manufacturer states in their FAQ section that Xbox variant isn't officially supported on this console, which can result in 'some limitations in volume control and other possible loss of functionality'. They also recommend that you use the correct variant with each console. Most gaming headsets (and most headphones and speakers in general) have dynamic drivers, which produce sound using a passive diaphragm attached to a moving voice coil — which is why dynamic drivers are also called “moving coil” drivers. Audeze specializes in a different type of driver: planar magnetic. Planar magnetic drivers produce sound using a diaphragm with the conductor embedded inside it (instead of attached to it, like a voice coil is), positioned between two magnetic arrays. This allows for more detailed control over the diaphragm, which means (in theory, at least) more accurate sound reproduction. There are no plans to offer a specific case at this point in time, however, Maxwell will fit standard and premium LCD cases. Maxwell uses an All-New Reinforced Chassis Built with Aluminum yokes, spring steel headband, and glass infused nylon for other structural parts including the cups. It is not supremely forward, but it’s well into the forward tier when references the placement of midrange vocals. However, the forward mids have a lovely pristine, dense feeling, meaty, and looming into the warm territory. The older LCD-X series and the LCD-GX do not sound like this in tonality.

The longest I have used them in a one-er was 8 hours and I could have really worn them for 8 more. Comfort: 9.5/10Famed for their powerful, detailed sound, Audeze’s Planar Magnetic headphones have stormed the high-end market. Now available in their latest gaming headphones, the Maxwell Xbox is Audeze’s answer to studio quality sound, on your Xbox.

The Soundstage of the Maxwell is absolutely fantastic. Simply put you have to try them out to understand. Playing Apex legends, I can perfectly pin point where the bullets are coming from and work out if the players footsteps are above or below me. With Tempest audio on, you even get a sense of perception of just how far (or near) they are to you. I am pretty sure I can now work out what character I am chasing/ be chased by just from the footsteps! Those sweaty Wraiths now stand no chance against me (Huwah ah ah). It is like having a second controller but not only that, a second controller which brings you directly into the world you are playing. We've added a comparison between these headphones and the Logitech G PRO X 2 LIGHTSPEED Wireless in Comfort. Thank goodness Audeze opted for a nice dark gray finish, although I do wish it had done a better job with that coat of paint. Sadly, the paint on the aluminum band and yoke is easily scratched off. If you so much as accidentally brush the headset against a hard surface like a wall, that nice finish will come off. This, on top of its size and weight, makes me think this does not belong anywhere else outside of your gaming space – despite the fact that the mic is removable, and it comes with Bluetooth connectivity for mobile devices. Is the Aux/3.5mm connection passive? Will it work like a normal headset without the unit being powered on?We're confident in our phase response measurements, and we were able to eliminate our test setup as the cause of this mismatch. We've also learned from criticism regarding how we measure latency and found new ways to measure latency that align with how users will use and experience the product. Xbox: Maxwell Xbox is still pending Microsoft's final approval, but we're pressing as hard as we can to make that happen soon. Maxwell does have AI powered noise cancelling for its outgoing chat/communications for both internal and external microphones (boom mic). The active area is still same. The new dual chamber earcup design takes up some of the space by having two physical earcups, one internal and one external - this helps with noise isolation and acoustics. The Audeze Maxwell Wireless are impressive planar magnetic gaming headphones. They're also some of the best gaming headphones we've tested to date. When we published our review on April 24th, 2023, we observed the conversation surrounding our review, including Audeze's public response to our measurements, which caused doubt in our results. However, after reviewing all the comments, we launched an extensive investigation; our goal wasn't to prove that our measurements were correct but to find out how this product truly performs.
