About this deal

Homemade almond butter is something I think everyone should learn how to do. It’s simple, delicious and just a good skill to have under your belt. Depending on the cost of your favorite store bought brand, this homemade almond butter recipe may be cheaper too. Our almond butter doesn't have anything in it but dry roasted almonds. This is a common way to make it, but some recipes call for oil and other ingredients, which we don't test. If a blender has a hard time processing almonds on its own, you may get better results by adding a liquid, like oil, to the mix. Also, we use the main jar and blade assembly for this test. Some blenders come with food processor attachments or additional blades that may produce a different result, but we don't currently test these extra accessories. Sweeten with maple syrup or honey. Depending on your taste, you might want to add a little sweetness. I love the flavor combination of cinnamon, vanilla, and maple syrup. Ever since wellness gurus like Ella Mills introduced us to almond butter, the nut butter market has exploded — and we've all realised there's much more to life than the humble peanut butter we ate as kids. When the almond butter finishes, we spread some on a piece of toast using a single stroke. We don't spend time trying to cover the entire slice if the butter doesn't spread easily. Then a photo is taken with a standardized set up so that the pictures are easy to compare between models. Finally, the tester tastes the almond butter to get an idea of the texture and the taste.

In addition, you won’t find brands that include added sugars or artificial flavourings as they simply don't stand up to the competition, so all the products ranked below are either 100% nut or close to. Let's go over the creamy version of this recipe first because all the steps are the same for the crunchy version, aside from a few extra! There are lots of different ways that you can indulge in some creamy almond butter and it is a versatile ingredient, which can be added to your breakfast, lunch or dinner. Step 3: Once the homemade almond butter has come together into a creamy consistency, add the salt and continue to process for a few more minutes to ensure it’s extra creamy.Or if you prefer your cooking to be savoury, almond butter can be added to curries, stews and soups. Oh LORD Homemade Crunchy Almond Butter is SO GOOD. I like peanut butter but am definitely not a raving fan of peanuts or peanut butter in general. I’ll eat it, but I have other favorites and do not seek out peanut-butter-anything. But this almond butter is freaking amazing! Price points on nut butters can vary hugely with supermarket own-brands often costing under two pounds a jar, while other high-end brands sold in shops like Plant Organic reaching nearer six pounds. That's a lot of pounds per peanut!

the almond butter is smooth and creamy, add the salt, cinnamon and vanilla. Process for 10 to 20 seconds and then taste. If you feel it needs it, add additional salt, cinnamon or vanilla. To sweeten it, add a teaspoon or more of honey or maple syrup and process another 5 to 10 seconds so that it is well incorporated. For crunchy almond butter, stir in the reserved chopped almonds. While almond butter has many health benefits, there are a few things to watch out for. One important thing to keep an eye on is the ingredients list. Many brands at the grocery store have added sugars or oils, which add extra calories and fat. Whether you like it crunchy or smooth, peanut butter is an essential in so many households. If you’re allergic to other tree nuts, this doesn’t necessarily mean that you’re allergic to almonds. Be careful with almond butter or avoid it until you know for certain whether you have an allergy. You can make your own almond butter at home by grinding whole, roasted almonds in a food processor or high-speed blender for several minutes. You may need to stop the blending process periodically to scrape down the sides. The longer you blend the almonds, the smoother the result will be. Add a tiny bit of ground cinnamon and vanilla extract. This is optional, but when you add just a 1/4 teaspoon of each (cinnamon and vanilla), the almond butter transforms from pretty tasty to almost addictive. You can always add more, but I actually love it when there is just a hint of cinnamon and vanilla.

Give the almonds longer in the food processor so the heavy powder begins clumping on you. Don’t worry! If it isn’t moving much inside the food processor, turn it off, open the lid, scrape down the sides, and break up any large clumps. You may need to do this a few times. Once you've achieved a creamy almond butter, add in the roughly chopped almonds and stir with a spoon until the chunks are evenly distributed. Use the rest of the almonds to make the creamy almond butter as described above. Scrape down the sides as needed (you'll have to a few times regardless of what machine you're using). There are many options for making homemade almond butter. Some like it raw, some like it roasted, some like to add sweetener or extra oil. Whatever you decide, the following steps will help you get the end result you’re looking for. If you want to keep it completely raw, skip this step and go straight to step 2. However, roasting the raw almonds helps to release a bit of their natural oils, which will in turn help the nuts blend easier in your food processor. It also helps to bring out their naturally nutty flavor. For these reasons, I definitely recommend roasting. PATIENCE!!! It's going to seem like it might never become creamy but I promise it will. Just keep blending, just keep blending...Let it go through all its phases. Depending on your blender or food processor, it could take 10-20 minutes of blending.
