About this deal

Outemu Brown switches are one of the cheapest switches. If you are looking for a budget keyboard, they will usually have Outemu switches.

Regardless of the type of Gateron switch, you can rest assured that you will get a 50 million keystroke lifespan for each switch. Gateron is known to have some of the smoothest keystrokes on the market. Thanks to the short pre-travel of only 1.2mm, these switches are perfect for delivering you ultra-fast reaction times and a distinct advantage over your enemies. MX Brown: By far the most popular and longstanding of key switches is Cherry’s ‘MX’ line. These have remained mostly the same over the years, but additional ones have been added to the lineup. Out of this lineup, Cherry MX Red, Blue, and Brown switches are by far the most popular mechanical switches even today, and together they offer a range of different pros and cons for many different use cases. Due to the smoothness of Gateron switches, we definitely prefer their silent switches to other switches.Glorious Lynx switches are linear, providing you with a smooth typing feel. These switches have an actuation of 60g. Similar to the Panda range, these switches will make the same ‘thonk’ when pressed. Glorious Fox: The only switch that differs slightly is the Gateron Clear switch which is totally different from the Cherry MX Clear. Instead of being a heavy tactile, the Gateron Clear is a super-light linear switch. Red, Blue, and Brown mechanical key switches are still the most popular ones on the market. If possible, you should try each of these switch types for yourself to see which you prefer – a mechanical key switch tester kit can help with this. But there are some differences that can point you in the right direction without personal testing. Because they’re still the most popular brand on the market, we’ll focus on Cherry MX switches. Mechanical Keyboard Switches Chart On the upside, since there are less parts touching, they have a lifespan of 100 million keystrokes making them durable and long-lasting. Kailh Box Brown Type: Tactile Cherry MX switches aren’t the only ones on the market these days. In fact, many gaming keyboard manufacturers like Razer now often make their own proprietary mechanical keyboard switches, and other companies like Gateron make switches for other manufacturers to use, just like Cherry.

Gateron Ink switches are a bit different from the normal Gateron switch, they are what we would consider Gateron’s “premium switch” due to the higher price point. Gateron low profile switches have a completely different design than a normal switch. Gateron low-profile switches have a different shaped stem and a much short actuation and travel distance.

I recorded a couple of audio clips to give you an idea of the sound differences. I installed both switches in my Skyloong GK61 and recorded them with an Audio Technica AT2020. First up, the Cherry MX Reds: The typing experience is delightful on the Gateron Brown switches. The keypress is smooth and tactile, which would aid in comfortable typing for a long duration. Others use low-profile switches purely for gaming purposes because of the lower actuation distance, but based on a test that I did, I found no improvement when using a shorter actuation distance for gaming. The Gateron specialty switches are where things get especially interesting. The different housing designs of the Milk and Ink switches really bring a unique design to the playing field and allows Gateron to show everybody they are more than just a Cherry MX clone company. Just as the name suggests, these switches have been designed to deliver ultra-fast speeds but in a small form factor. MX Low Profile Speed switches have a 45cN actuation force and 1.0mm pre-travel.

Kailh Box Brown switches are a cool option because the actual shape of the stem is a bit different. This makes optical switches a really good option for gaming because the faster actuation can help boost your competitive level. Those extra milliseconds can make a difference in a game where you need to have a really fast reaction time.
