About this deal

This change of mind return policy is in addition to, and does not affect your rights under the Australian Consumer Law including any rights you may have in respect of faulty items. It always sits funny with us that multi tool makers count a lanyard ring as a ‘tool’. Is it a useful feature? Sure, especially in areas where there’s a risk of dropping your multi tool in water or muddy conditions. But a tool, definitely not. That being said, Gerber’s does exactly what you need it to do and is sturdy enough to support the weight of the tool without issue. Non-replaceable wire cutters, the standard Gerber 600’s wire cutters can be replaced once you dull them or notch them up from use.

With the Gerber MP600 Pro Scout, you will get a unique, single-handed opening plier design containing easy to access internal tools, including the ones already mentioned. It does not have the usual traditional butterfly fold. What it has, instead, is a pair of pliers that slid up from the primary body.

I am going through the current Gerber catalogue and I decided to see just how many current MP600's there are. I was a little surprised by the results. The RemGrit blades are pretty good at sawing through plastics and thin pieces of metal. Overall we found it to be a neat feature but one that we rarely called upon. The Pro Scout is only available with needle nose pliers and standard wire cutters, which we think says interesting things about Gerber’s triangular replaceable blades. One reviewer complained about the choice of a Remgrit rasp, because of availability. I think that this is an unfair criticism, since the tool uses a standard jigsaw blade pattern; you can use any similar fitting jigsaw blade of whatever type you want: a different grit rasp, or indeed a metal saw, a wood saw, or whatever you like.

I wanted one of these as I had to go on a trip in France .I never go out without such a tool (Victorinox, Leatherman, SOG or Gerber) but, I want to stay surely on the right side of the Law when I go abroad . The Bladeless Gerber appeared to be the best choice for my needs. Great quality as always with the Gerber USA made tools, easy ergos (one hand opening pliers), rather lightweight but solid construction, it would be a 5 star rating but... For both the plain and serrated edge blades, the edge retention was quite good. I cut up all sorts of cardboard and fibrous materials and both of the blades are still fairly sharp. The serrated blade is patterned in such a way that you’re not relying on the same common edge when cutting. There’s a benefit to having a pattern like this—it’s called longevity. Designed expressly for the unique needs of industrial facilities, hospitals, and other similar institutions that limit the kinds of items people carry on their bodies, this do-it-all tool helps ensure safety in the workplace, while still giving you the benefit of this industrial-strength MP’s muscular multitude of tools. Its needle nose pliers work when you require a precise point that can grab fine elements in small spaces, while its one-handed open greatly simplifies a wide array of tasks. It contains rotatable, replaceable Tungsten Carbide wire cutters for use in snipping a variety of stubborn wires. This smart MP600 also holds a brawny, removable RemGrit saw, so you can take it along or simply take it out, giving you maximum flexibility with the tool in just about any situation. There are a total of 26 different variations, consisting of 18 variations of the basic MP600, four versions of the Pro Scout, three different versions of the MP600 ST, and the MP600 DET. Gerber MP600 Ballistic Nylon Sheath One-Handed Multitool

The knife blades come sharp, are easy to maintain, and generally provide everything you need from a multi tool blade. Screwdrivers I could not buy it from Heinnie, this time, since it wasn't listed at the time I needed it the most. Sorry HH, next time, for sure. First time I've got a bladeless multi tool plus I bought the brilliant case I'm very pleased with the tool does a great job and easy to deploy, great service as usual from HH good quality ? I can accept the cons of this multi-tool, especially when I can carry separate wood and steel cutting jigsaw blades to complement the RemGrit blade. Replaceable wire-cutters would have been nice, but honestly, what other tool comes with those, except the Gerber 600.

When you are ready to replace the blade (or it is worn out), you can swap it with a choice of blades that are designed for different types of materials – wood, metal, plastics, etc. Editor’s note: the Geber MP600 also made Task & Purpose’s roundup of the best multitools of the year. This is a handy-person's dream. It's sharp lines and bulkier carry make it less appealing for every day carry, but the pure function and unique one-handed pliers engagement will make it perfect for the mechanic or home improver. Value As with their approach with form, Gerber isn’t going out of their way to make the needlenose pliers and wire cutters anything more than what they should be. They function great, but the wire cutters could benefit from being replaceable (which can be found on other models of the Gerber MP 600 line).

Performance Comparison

The Wave+ overall beats out the MP600 on just about every metric. It’s lighter, just as sturdy, has a better tool loadout, and the finish stands up better than the MP600’s. All of this at a price just barely above the MP600’s. The only reason to go with the MP600 over the Wave+ is if you really like the one handed open pliers. Gerber really shows their desire to ‘do things differently’ with the design of the MP600’s can and bottle openers. Unlike basically every other multi tool and swiss army knife on the market Gerber choose to separate these into two tools.

The design of the MP600 makes the ruler less useful that it would be on a traditional butterfly open multi tool. It just comes down to the overall length of the tool’s body. The ruler is 8 cm/ 3 inches long depending on the side you’re looking at. It's an efficient way to do business. Kind of like how automakers share body platforms. One handle of the new Center Drive looks pretty much like a CAD copy/paste of the MP600 with added parts. Now they don't have to stamp out 20 different serrated blades. They've got one in two colors that fit into 20 or so models. Would your average collector consider those variations desirable like how SAK-collectors will buy a tool just for the scale colors? Likely not to that extent but it's a windfall for the average consumer who gets what they want without having to buy something else.Replacement Parts– Gerber offers a limited lifetime warranty on all their knives, tools, and multi tools. This only applies to the original owner and doesn’t include damage due to wear and tear, misuse, or sharpening of the blades. MP600 BASIC07500G0-13658-07500-9Multi-Plier 600 - Bluntnose Stainless w/ Carbide Insert Cutters, SheathBox Nor is it counting the MP400's, MP700's, MP800's or anything else in the Multiplier series, or the current issue Center Drive! The beak’s spine also features a rounded design, promoting ease in bending wires and reaching narrow spots. Furthermore, it has a wire cutter designed in such a way that you can use it for cutting small stems and branches with ease. Other Nice Features of the Gerber MP600 You can also find versions of this product that come with replaceable tungsten carbide blades featuring a triangular design. This blade works perfectly for wires that are stubborn and difficult to cut.
