About this deal

You should apply Gyeon Q² CanCoat in a dry place out of direct sunlight. In all cases, prepare the surfaces you are going to treat in the normal way (wash > decontaminate > polish), and then do a wipe down with Gyeon Q²M Prep to ensure that they are spotlessly clean. For best results, spray Gyeon Q² CanCoat on to either the supplied microfibre towel or a PB Super Buffing Towel and immediately wipe it over a single panel to spread a thin, even film of product. Then refold the towel and continue buffing to fully remove the film and reveal an intense streak-free shine. Alternatively, mist a Meguiar's Even Coat Microfiber Applicator Pad with Gyeon Q² CanCoat and wipe a thin, even film of product over a single panel at a time before buffing off with either the supplied microfibre towel or a PB Super Buffing Towel. Either way, you should aim to complete all of the buffing off within 1-2 minutes, i.e. before the coating begins to harden. I had CanCoat last 15 months on a vehicle that was polished with Gyeon Primer Polished and maintained every now and then with Cure. I consider this a triple threat that just performs well. You should apply Gyeon Q² CanCoat EVO in a dry place out of direct sunlight. As a first foray into ceramic coatings, I thought I would try applying Gyeon Can Coat to my 6 year old car. Gyeon coatings have been completely redesigned and this technology has never used before in car coatings. Evo products utilize a world-first use of the fluoro-modified polisylazane technology that pushes the Evo line to the forefront of car coatings. This technology means extended durability, extreme chemical resistance, longer lasting performance, and only one layer is needed. It remains easy to apply and much easier wipe off than before.

The fundamental purpose of Primer is to improve the ease with which very soft paint finishes can be prepared for the coating application process. It does this by finishing down extremely well, and by doing away with the need for the subsequent wipe down with Prep. However, it only does the latter if the car is left for ~24 hours after the Primer is applied, which isn't usually an issue if you are working indoors. Nice write up Zach. CanCoat is a great product. Probably my favorite protection from the current Gyeon line. That includes Gyeon Syncro which has been underwhelming for me. But that is another story for another time. CanCoat is quite versatile and for me it exceeded the longevity and durability claims which Gyeon claims to be roughly 6-9 months.Highlights from their range for us include Can Coat possibly the easiest to use ceramic coating on the market, perfect for all paint & wheels. Gyeon Wet Coat, that revolutionised the spray on wet market, making paintwork protection ridiculously easy. Gyeon Tire is also amongst our favourite tyre dressings, SiO2 based it lasts the longest and gives a deep wet gloss. Really there aren't any products in the entire Gyeon range we wouldn't hesitate to recommend.

However, I have discovered a more effective way of applying the product which improves the performance and durability. Here’s how: Method 2 Q² Can Coat EVO offers more durable performance, improved visual enhancement and hydrophobic properties - all thanks to the updated EVO formula. It remains as easy to apply as it used to, now featuring even easier wipe off. Was I expecting too much from the claims of self-cleaning/beading and this is normal for ceramic coatings or did I do something wrong?

Application

It is extremely important to ensure the vehicle is thoroughly cleaned. A proper car wash should be done at the very least. Use Gyeon Prep to ensure the surface is free of any oils and be certain that everything is completely dry before applying Can Coat. The paint should be cool to the touch prior to application. Do not work in direct sunlight. I share most of my thoughts in the video but the ease of application and user experience is the same with CanCaot Evo. I always enjoyed the durability of the previous version so having more is a plus while keeping the overall user experience the same. It will more than likely exceed that up to 12 month durability claim.

Gyeon Q2 Can Coat EVO is an increibly easy to use spray coating, simply spray onto the attached microfibre and wipe until you achieve full gloss. Now in its EVO form to provide you with a more durable yet easy to apply SiO2 based coating. Outdoor Friendly. Meaning it can be applied outside but not in direct sun and avoid wet wet weather for the first 24 hours as it will affect the cure time (ie dew, rain). This will be a big hit for those that don't have access to a garage as it applies to all of the Gyeon coatings. One thing mentioned in the included maintenance book, is to apply Gyeon Cure as a precaution if planning to leave it outside. CanCoat has always been one of may favorite products. I would go on a limb and often state it was the best coating in the Gyeon line even if was not a full fledged coating. It had a claim of up to 6 months but it consistently exceeded in durability and longevity for me ranging from15-18 months. It is also one of the most versatile coatings as it can be applied to any surface (glass, paint, trim, wheels) as a standalone but also as a maintenance topper after a year or so. It also has some of the best hydrophobic behavior that I have seen and it leaves that glossy appearance. If you still have an older bottle of CanCoat, don't get rid of it. Use it as it is a great product. Once it is all used up then transition over to the Evo version. GYEON do not clarify the circumstances in which it should be used, looking at the above 'each time you wash' would suggest that it is a shampoo for regular use. If you do use it regularly, you can guarantee the car isn't being fully de-contaminated making that contamination harder to remove without polishing (not possible without removing the coating too). For example Cancoat is the most expensive and labor intensive way to coat a car over a set time period of 3 to 5 yrs compared to other using your term, traditional coatings, which for most long lasting durability being one of the primary reasons to coat a car.

Unlike yourself and applying with the towel which is easy enough, I just get better coverage with a microfiber applicator. It does not take any longer than using it with a towel. I also get less streaking with the microfiber applicator than I do with the towel.

Is it a Coating or a Sealant?

Members and I of the detailing community cringe when we hear of any spray on product that has the name ‘ceramic’, ‘coat’, or ‘SI02 in it’. We have seen these (maintenance spray) products sold and detailing services with the application of these products offered with the blatantly misleading implication the consumer is getting comparable protection to a true ceramic coating. I’ve discovered that Can Coat is a bit of a unique product. In my opinion, it falls somewhere between the two categories. Can coat claims to provide many of the benefits of a true coating such as strong protection against chemicals, environmental contaminants, and UV rays, however it does not offer the same durability that most coatings can provide. Can Coat is like a more potent version of a spray sealant such as Gyeon Cure, but a less potent version of a coating like Gyeon Mohs. Can Coat may be applied on top of an existing coating or as a stand alone layer of protection.
