Whole Uncut Ham vs. Spiral Ham: Spiral-sliced hams may be easier to cut and serve. But since the ham is pre-sliced, it’s easier to dry out during the reheating process (especially for thinly-sliced spiral ham). If you’re using spiral ham, make sure to use a shorter reheating time. To make the glaze, heat the butter and honey in a saucepan on low heat or gently in the microwave. Add in some chopped rosemary. This is completely optional. There are four main sizes of ham boiler in the Flavasava range, the AF25, AF50, AF75 and AF150 ham boilers.

You can either serve the gammon straight from the slow cooker or add a glaze and cook it in an oven for about 5-10 minutes. Any longer than that your gammon will dry out. I tend to always glaze my ham but if you're making this recipe for a regular weeknight meal go then you can skip it, but it really is worth it! Gently melt the honey and butter in a small pan and add in the chopped rosemary. While you can prepare a boneless ham in the slow cooker, we find that bone-in hams yield more tender, flavorful and moist results. This is because the bone helps the ham heat more evenly since it conducts heat. The bone also contains key proteins like albumin and collagen, which enrich the ham with flavor and moisture. Put the gammon, onion and 100ml/3½fl oz water in the slow cooker, cover with the lid and cook on low for 6–8 hours, or until the pork is thoroughly cooked. The longer the gammon is cooked, the more like pulled ham it will become. Split peas are dried peas that have been split – and are part of the legume family. They can be yellow or green, and you’re fine to use either for this recipe, however, I prefer to use yellow as they have a more earthy flavour. Green split peas are much sweeter. Are split peas good for you? The recommended time is 30 minutes per KG, so just take this into consideration when cooking your gammon. What is the best slow cooker gammon vs pressure cooker gammon?Jump to Recipe Slow cooker gammon in coke Slow cooker gammon in coke is the easiest dinner you can make. The coke adds a delicious sweetness that balances the saltiness of the gammon making it a hit for all the family. You can use other vegetables (carrots are the cheapest) or an actual trivet instead if you have one! I prefer unsmoked to smoked gammon but you can use either. If you have a smoked gammon joint you should remove some of the saltiness of the meat before you put it in the slow cooker by boiling it in water for half an hour. What can I make with leftover gammon? While they are doing that, carefully remove your ham from the slow cooker and put it in an oven dish/baking tray.

The first time we made this, I was a bit sceptical as to how it would turn out. It seems like it’s far too simple to taste good. It’s simplicity is what I love about this dish now though. Get your kids to measure out the honey, mustard and cinnamon into a small bowl and then mix it together. This smoked gammon in cider doesn't require many ingredients but each one really adds to the finished ham. The size can vary, we have used a small 1.3kg round joint in this recipe, which is available all year around. Place your ham into your slow cooker cut side down. Pour the ginger ale over the ham, then cover and cook on low for four to five hours until heated through. Step 2: Glaze

You’ve created the perfect holiday menu for your family’s upcoming gathering. But there’s one problem: You only have one oven and limited refrigerator space for make-ahead side dishes. For this recipe, there is no need to soak the split peas ahead of cooking as you’ll be slow cooking them for several hours. I do, however, rinse them in cold running water to remove any dirt. How easy is this slow cooker ham and pea soup? Spiral hams are a convenient option for those leery of carving. Just know spiral hams can dry out faster than other types of ham (even in the slow cooker). Consider ham butt vs. ham shank If you use the high setting on your slow cooker, your gammon should be ready in about 3-4 hours. It’ll take closer to 6-7 hours on a low setting. You can leave the gammon for longer if you’re out and about, at work for example, it won’t dry out.
