About this deal

One of the other key features of a high-quality cooler is the hardware. The Igloo BMX Coolers have oversized hinges and stainless steel screws to hold the hinges in place. Oftentimes the hardware used goes unnoticed but it is a key piece to a long-lasting cooler. Being stainless steel, it will be much more resilient to rust and wear compared to lower-end materials. That said, another option would be the Igloo's own store, which is actually pretty good. The BMX series is available right here. The 52 QT cooler is a heavy-duty cooler that can handle anything nature throws at. It is sturdy and can withstand literally any harsh environmental conditions and handling mishaps. Considering the dents most coolers get on their bodies, it looks like Igloo decided to take the necessary measures for this 52 QT cooler. Though it seems a bit unfair to put this rookie toe-to-toe with the most popular cooler brand out there right now, the BMX series has durability and usage that share similarities to Yeti and have earned a comparison.

At a push, this cooler can be handled (safely) by one person. The BMX 52 has neat swing-up handles with rubber groups that provide extra protection when carrying. As with the larger BMX 72 model, the handles have steel reinforcement to save them giving way when lugging heavier loads. update* We have been made aware of some other Igloo BMX Cooler color choices available including Green/Orange, Sandstone/Red, and Carbon. We have updated our rating for this metric accordingly. Igloo BMX Cooler Price Very few cooler brands are able to save you money, be easy to use and perform for just about any situation at the same time, and that makes Igloo’s BMX Cooler series a priority if that’s what you’re looking for. the biggest option is the 72 Quart Cooler, weighing in at 18.7pounds and measuring 32.19″ x 17.34″ x 16.82″ on the outside. With four tie-down points and a molded fish measuring ruler, as well as class-leading performance and durable construction, the Igloo BMX 25 cool box is a great compact solution for angling and fishing trips. Igloo BMX 25 Heavy Duty Cool Box FeaturesWe think there's no better technology providing the highest possible ice retention than the rotational molding, which stands behind the YETI products. It's not that we're a skeptic of Igloo's insulation, we just think that when it comes to the ability to keep ice for many many days, YETI is going to win here.

Coolers come in varying sizes, even among specific brands and models. Determine upfront what you’re likely to carry in your cooler and how much room that will take. Some coolers offer 54 quarts of usable space inside, which totals more than 85 cans if you’re only using it to keep drinks cold. You’ll get between 65 and 70 quarts of space with some other models. When it comes to situations where their coolers come in handy, both BMX coolers and Yeti coolers can be quiet useful for people who have adventures planned for the outdoors, whether it involves fishing, hunting, hiking or biking. For the 2 larger Igloo BMX Ice Chest sizes (52QT and 72QT), replace the overhead carrying handle with gripped swing-up handles that have reinforced stainless steel. We typically recommend that these larger coolers be carried by 2 people (particularly if they are filled up with items).Being a new addition to Igloo’s offerings doesn’t leave the BMX series with a long list of size offerings at the moment, but the purpose with this offering is to make them light enough to provide customers an easy time carrying them while being just as tough as the biggest options in the ice chest world. This brand has some way to go before it catches up to RTIC, which has a warranty of seven years, and those that have a warranty that lasts a lifetime, which includes Cordova, Otterbox, Siberian, Monoprice and Pelican. However, the BMX series is still new to the game, and given its current performance level, that shouldn’t be hard to do. But if you are more budget-minded and just after the good performance without breaking the bank, then we have to give a slight nod to Igloo. Igloo also knows what they are doing when it comes to making coolers and they have impressed us with their BMX Coolers. Igloo BMX Cooler Review Design is very different between the two brands, as Yeti relies on the traditional rotomolded construction that is included in the biggest names, while Igloo for its BMX series uses something called a blow-molded construction, which is less expensive and less complex to make.

On the other hand, the BMX cooler cost a fraction of its rotomolded counterparts, and, what we said before, it's a very light one. You lose something, you gain something…

What Other Coolers Should You Consider?

One of the features that make Igloo BMX Coolers stand out from the competition is their Cooler Riser Technology. We don’t know exactly how much this feature assists in prolonging ice life but it certainly doesn’t hurt. If you’ve ever tried to empty a larger cooler at the end of the day, you know how tough it can be. For that reason, many newer coolers come with bilge drains, allowing you to release the water from the bottom of the cooler. You may have to tip the cooler a little to get the last of the water out, but you won’t have the extreme tilt that you have with a cooler that doesn’t have a drain. From a performance standpoint, Yeti has a slight advantage. While the Igloo BMX Cooler is no slouch, the excellent build quality and strong warranty of a Yeti are hard to match. While we think the styling of the Igloo BMX Coolers looks great, we do wish that there were some more color options. The combination of grey, blue, and the metallic finish of the diamond plate insert results in a very attractive cooler that stands out from the crowd. When we initially wrote this review, we could only find one color option. Igloo has expanded things some and there is now a larger selection of colors. This was a much-needed addition. But still missing is any sort of team logos and/or custom color options. Cost – Another area that Yeti wins is in the size and color choices. The different model sizes and available colors on Yeti Coolers are seemingly endless. This is compared to just 3 sizes and 5 colors available for Igloo BMX Coolers.
