About this deal

More convenient: powered by 3* 21700 batteries with a USB-C charging port, the batteries can be charged whilst in the light. If you prefer the batteries are removal/replaceable. This flashlight covers SO MUCH distance! It’s truly amazing, especially for how small it is (it is small for how much light it produces, but it’s on the heavier side). Sofirn is a well known name when it comes to flashlights as we all know. So you can expect it to live up to its name.

Q8 Plus comes with a firmware called Anduril (version 202202080614 to be specific). It’s a highly-configurable and feature-rich UI that’s not for the faint of heart, but it’s a joyto use if you know it well. I’m not remotely prepared to do a whole UI breakdown, so I’ll just direct you to the official Anduril 2 Manualwhich has a UI table at the bottom. With that said, here are a few of my favorite features. Most of these are highly configurable or optional, so if you don’t like one, you can probably disable or change it! The tailcap is removable, but there’s no point; it’s a dumb tailcap. I don’t believe it even carries any current. So while it’s removable (maybe in case you want to do maintenance on the inside or something), there’s no need to do so.Super Bright & Extremely Powerful: Sofirn Q8 Plus is equipped with 6* XHP50B LEDs. At the 16000-lumen turbo mode, the throw distance can reach 554 meters. In addition, the Q8 Plus can achieve a run time of 2.6 hours with repeated use of turbo mode (subject to ATR). This beam profile illuminates a large area with a balanced, useful light at five brightness settings. It is a perfect outdoor companion. Does anyone know more about whether different emitters are used in the Sofirn iteration and if so how they're differing from the ones in the Astrolux?Did already someone get his hands on both so the discrepancy in flux can be confirmed by one person using the same equipment? ANSI FL1 standards: The runtime is measured until the light drops to 10% of its initial output (30 seconds after turning on). This does not mean that the flashlight is not usable anymore. The last column shows how long the light actually works till it shuts off. If there is a + symbol, it means that the test was stopped at that particular point, but the light was actually still running. This happens on certain occasions, with certain drivers, firmware, or batteries. Peak beam intensity and beam distance measurements Mode Regulation on the settings I used was about what I expected. The higher modes are not regulated and the lower modes are. You just can’t get great regulation on mega flooders like this, regardless of the type of driver they use. They just pump out too many lumens from too few batteries to be able to well regulated.

Smarter Indicator: with green/ blue/ orange/ flashing led indicator to inform us about changing modes or charging status

The driver also has flashing pads, but they’re a weird layout (not the normal layout we’ve been seeing from Sofirn/Wurkkos on Attiny1616 lights so far). Sofirn, please stop changing your flashing pad layouts! It makes it a lot more complicated for enthusiasts to flash updated or modified firmware onto our lights. The Sofirn/Wurkkos factory has shipped lights with bugged firmware before so it’s important to be able to update! I did not do detailed CRI, CCT, or DUV testing because this light is about maximum output, not pretty color properties. Note: All regulation measurements are taken at turn-on so they do not reflect any thermal or low voltage stepdowns that may occur. A value of 0 indicates low voltage shutoff immediately upon activation.
