Tell us where you trained and when you graduated. Most of us have been to your showcases and, whilst we may not immediately remember your name, this might help to jog our memory. Also the simple truth is that, as a huge generalisation, good training creates good graduates so it’s an important piece of information for us to be reminded of.
How do you choose a floor lamp?
If you can’t choose, you can combine! In our wide range you can find floor lamps with dual light sources that can be switched on and off separately. This way, you’ll always have the right lighting for whatever you need. We want you to have fun whilst learning important skills that can be applied to all aspects of life as well as the performing arts. Include relevant drama school credits if you’re newly graduated. Even though the role might not be your ideal casting, it may remind us of something about you. You can remove these credits as your CV builds…or when you’re 45!
Include as much info as you can – the character, show name, theatre and director. We might want to know which version of something you were in or need to call someone for a reference so it’s all useful. But please spell everyone’s name right. It’s a little thing but it could lose you a job! Only include these if they’re good. Of course they’re incredibly useful but you singing a cappella in your bedroom is of no value to anyone. I can only speak for myself when I say that, as someone who only works in theatre, I don’t ever look at/listen to reels as I want to see/hear you live in the room.
Where should you put floor lamps?
Casting directors can’t always watch a whole showreel so make sure to open strong. Re-editing your showreel can make it feel completely new and a simple edit can change everything. Make sure your strongest scene is at the beginning of the showreel. Don’t start with montages or still photographs, casting directors want to see you act. Self-tapes The right spot to place a floor lamp depends on the type of lamp you have and your lighting needs. If the lamp is designed for directional task lighting, you should consider having it above or behind a sofa, armchair or table. This way, the lamp doesn’t get in your way and provides the light you need. Pretty much everything that has been invented in the world as a skill is listed in that section so if you can do it, tell us! You have no idea what sort of obscure nonsense we’ll be looking for. Being able to juggle fire whilst scuba diving will never go against you and you never know, it might be exactly what I need! Lumens indicate how much light streams through an area per second. Generally speaking, the higher the lumen output, the more light produced. A spotlight’s lumen output indicates its brightness power, but note that most lights begin to dim as the battery dies and as you use it longer. The higher the lumen output, the faster the battery drains, so if you’re in an emergency situation, make sure to use the dimmer mode or save your spotlight for when you really need it.
