Visitors to LG’s booth at IFA 2022 can explore a wide range of cutting-edge LG monitor products, including the new UltraGear and the UltraFine™ Display Ergo AI (model 32UQ890), which delivers a truly customizable setup for superior user comfort at home or at the office. Apple explained that the M3 Pro chip in the 16-inch and 14-inch MacBook Pro is up to 40% faster than the M1 Pro in the 16-inch MacBook Pro. Yet, as spotted by MacRumors, there are some situations where the latest chips actually look a little worse than their predecessors -- at least on paper. Speaking of settings, the UltraGear 45GR95QE-B has a healthy array of options within its sleek OSD menu, including various overlays, a toggle for Adaptive-sync (G-Sync compatible Freesync) settings, and ‘game mode’ presets. You’ll also be able to dial in contrast, gamma, and color settings if you’ve not got HDR switched on, and there’s picture in picture functionality too. That latter quirk is handy if you’re a streamer looking to use a console and Windows 11 on one screen, as you’ll be able to use two inputs at the same time. The screen is 45″ in size (44.75″ to be exact) with an ultrawide format and 21:9 aspect ratio. It has a very steep 800R curvature as well. The screen has a fairly low 3440 x 1440 resolution for the screen size, but also offers a 0.03ms G2G response time spec, 1.5 million:1 contrast ratio, 178/178 viewing angles, 1.07b colour depth and a wide 98.5% DCI-P3 colour gamut. The screen comes factory calibrated but (rare for a gaming screen) the display also offers hardware calibration support which is great news.On the Corsair model sure not on this LG its fixed as per the article.Both solutions don't appeal to me. Flexible screen sounds nice, but I feel it is more marketing than it being really useful since not many people will keep changing the degree of curve. LG's solution however is too curved. While Alienware's QD OLED monitor is not a direct comparison to these 2, I think the fixed curve and size works best. Assuming you crank up the brightness, there’s only one issue with the image quality: pixel density. This is a 44.5-inch display with a resolution of 3,440 x 1,440, leading to a pixel density of around 83 pixels per inch (PPI). That’s around the same level as a 27-inch 1080p monitor, and it’s a big reason why a display like the LG UltraGear OLED 48 is hard to justify. The monitor uses LG’s W-OLED panel, which in addition to the regular red, green and blue subpixels also has a white subpixel for increased brightness. This pixel layout will, however, cause some minor fringing on fine details and small text, but most users won’t be bothered by it. Makaveli said: "The critical difference is LG has decided on a fixed 800R curvature, and the Corsair leaves the degree of screen curve up to the user (between totally flat and approx 800R). Perhaps LG wasn’t happy with the creaky Corsair flexing mechanism, which doesn’t create a true arc, but rather a display with two flat sides plus a bend in the middle."

LG of course makes some of the best OLED TVs around, and so is looking to transfer that quality and expertise over to the gaming monitor market here. It's certainly premium in terms of its spec, and in terms of the price you're going to have to pay to get one.LG’s exhibition booth (Hall 18, Messe Berlin) at IFA 2022 from September 2-6 will give visitors the opportunity to experience the company’s very latest consumer electronics innovations, including its new display solutions for productivity (Ergo) and entertainment/gaming (UltraGear). This is a bit contradictory to the monitor’s 800R screen curvature, which implies that for the ideal viewing experience, you shouldn’t sit more than 80cm (31.5″) away from the screen. The stand of the monitor is fairly sturdy and offers a good range of ergonomics, including up to 110mm height adjustment, -5°/15° tilt, +/- 10° swivel and 100x100mm VESA mount compatibility.
