About this deal

Value for money is another key consideration. Sure many of the TVs in this list are pricey, but there's a difference between an expensive TV and one that really lives up to that price. Several of the TVs above might be eye-wateringly expensive, but if you have the money to spend, we promise they're worth it. DTS:X and Dolby Atmos are the main home cinema audio formats. These rival technologies are both audio compression technologies that create a surround sound effect both in cinemas and in the home. For a mid-range TV without any attached soundbar, the Sony X90J is surprisingly powerful in the sound category. Using only two 10W full range drivers and two side tweeters, the X90J delivers convincing and clear audio that, largely, sounds very good. It’s one of the more powerful TV speaker systems we’ve heard on a mid-range 4K TV. Shows, movies and games we played on the TV all sounded crisp and clear with easy-to-understand dialogue and solid simulated 3D sound. While the simulated 3D audio is never quite as good as a full Dolby Atmos setup—it’s not even close, really—it is a nice feature to have while you’re waiting to install a more fully featured AV solution.

The B3 does have a distinctly average built-in sound system, though, and its stand feels a little cheap compared to its price tag, but there is still plenty on offer here to make the LG B3 a real consideration if you're looking to upgrade your TV and make your way into the world of OLED. The LG C2 is at the top of our best TV guide right now with an outstanding picture and although it's expensive, it's excellent value for money. This brand certainly makes excellent OLED TVs – in fact, LG Display makes the OLED panels for most other brands. We like that LG offers a wide range of TVs, including different budgets and sizes – the C2 goes from 42 inches all the way up to 83-inches. LG's webOS is one of our favorites, an easy to use operating system that feels intuitive. You want the brightest OLED available: Both the Samsung S95C and the LG G3 offer higher brightness levels than the S90C. You prefer simpler user interfaces: Samsung's Smart Hub software on this TV isn't the strongest when it comes to feeling precise and easy to use. Sony's latest flagship TV, the A95K, is truly impressive. Sony's excellent Cognitive XR processor has joined forces with new Quantum Dot OLED screen technology to deliver arguably the most flat-out beautiful images we’ve seen from a consumer television. The Samsung S95C is Samsung's flagship QD-OLED for 2023 and offers everything you'd look for in a TV; exceptional picture quality, extensive gaming features, beautiful design and great built-in sound. It's no surprise that QD-OLED is becoming more popular with TVs like the S95C around.

It goes really loud, too, and there’s a very satisfying overall tonal balance. The Panasonic’s woofers can be provoked into some slight but distracting distortion by exceptionally deep bass, but those moments are rare, and the LZ2000 remains a TV of unusual sonic talent. The Sony A95K sounds more direct and clear than the LZ2000, and the Philips OLED937 offers even better clarity, detail and dynamics, but neither one of those rivals is as open and atmospheric as this Panasonic. Of these two 'dynamic' HDR formats, Dolby Vision is by far the most prevalent, both in terms of TVs and content, and if you have to choose between one and the other, that's the one we'd recommend. That said, you can now buy TVs from the likes of Philips and Panasonic that support both Dolby Vision and HDR10+. LG's entry-level 2023 OLED TV provides stunning picture quality and gaming features that equals more premium models, but it's less bright than pricier TVs. This offers the best image quality you can get for such an affordable price. It's Samsung's highest-end non-QLED TV from its 2022 range – simple, but high quality. You'll watch in a bright room often: This is the least bright OLED in this list, which means it's susceptible to reflections when watching during the day, or with bright lights on. A mini-LED TV for the same price would be better for daytime viewing. The Philips OLED+936 certainly looks the part. The speaker enclosure takes design cues from B&W’s critically-acclaimed speaker range, with the tweeter grilles resembling those developed for B&W’s 800 Series Diamond range—while the bass enclosure is ported to the rear and uses Flowport technology, as developed by Bowers & Wilkins for its core loudspeakers. It’s essentially a hi-fi system that happens to have a TV attached—and an Ambilight TV at that. Most modern TVs use LED displays (light emitting diodes) to act as a source of light behind the screen and use an LCD (liquid crystal display) to control where light is shown on your TV. Premium TVs use two differing technologies to enhance your viewing experience: QLED The Samsung S90C does it all. Excellent picture, brilliant gaming performance, great built-in sound, and provides a more budget way into the world of QD-OLED. Samsung's QN900B Neo QLED 8K TV boasts a variety of audio improvements over its predecessor, the QN900A, most notably the inclusion of up-firing speakers that make it possible to (technically) achieve Dolby Atmos sound. Additionally, Samsung's newest Neo QLED flagship now boasts the rather impressive ability to transmit Dolby Atmos audio to compatible Samsung soundbars over Wi-Fi.
