But there used to be. Like, last year, when you had the Altra Torin 4.0 and the Altra Torin 4.0 Plush. But not the year before that. Except wait, there were also two versions that year– the Torin 3.5 Knit and the Torin 3.5 Mesh.I thought the midfoot fit felt a little snug at first, but as each run went on, it formed better to my obnoxiously wide feet. Some of the Altra fans may complain that it’s not as wide as it used to be, but if I can wear them, you probably can too. Altra designers pulled from the Torin 4.5 Plush construction and beefed up the padding in the Torin 5. Additional cushioning around the heel collar and tongue create a protected feel that doesn’t feel overbearing and makes the Torin 5 a great road-to-trail transition shoe.

Altra Torin 4.5 Plush Performance Review - Believe in the Run

The upper is super light and flexible. I loved how cushioned the heel collar was. They literally melted away as I ran in them. Plus, the colors are so cute. I would totally wear these out and about if I’m going for a sportier look,” says one reviewer. Designers focused on plush cushioning throughout the heel collar to create a protected, yet flexible feel where you need it most. A silky smooth fabric covers the whole collar for a chafe-free fit that keeps debris out. The upper of the Altra Torin 4.0 is predominately mesh, which allows for good breathability and comfort. I have a history of knee problems, but when I ran in the Altra Torin 5 the cushioning more than made up for the zero drop,” says one reviewer. “If anything, it was one of the more engaging runs I’ve been on because I could really pay attention to the way I was landing while running.”Altra shaved a full ounce off the men’s model and a little over one ounce from the women’s. The change dropped the women’s shoe to 7.4 oz and the men’s to 9.1 oz—placing the new version comfortably in that sub-10 oz category. The result is an even lighter ride than before while maintaining the same soft feel. La marque commercialise en effet bien d’autres modèles de chaussures running et trail que la Torin 4.5, tel que l’ Altra Lone Peak 4.5 que nous avons également testé. Designers enhanced the comfort of the toe box with a knit upper. The knit is lightweight and pliable, so it flexes naturally with your foot as you transition from landing to takeoff.

The 5 weighs about 9 ounces which is really light for a max cushion shoe—especially compared to some of the other stuff we have on the wall in that same max cushion family. It is a little lighter due to the new Ego Max Midsole. Altra’s shoes like the Escalante , the new Lone Peak, and Rivera have a bouncy, lightweight, soft feel due to their Ego Midsole. The Torin 5 will have a midsole similar to what we have seen in those shoes but slightly more elevated. New shoes from Altra coming down the line will include this new Ego Max midsole. Eventually, Altra will have shoes that are just Ego, and then Ego Max. These midsoles will make the price points higher and lower depending on how much the shoe’s ego max has. A Lightweight, Comfortable Distance Shoe New Balance 1080v10: These have a soft pillow like cushioning. The upper is knitted but, designed to be snugger with a bit of stretch. Here is our review:After the first run, however, any worries about the tightness of the shoe went away. The shoe felt great on the road, right out of the box.

Il a également contribué au lancement de la marque américaine Under Armour en Europe, notamment sa collection HOVR pour le running, au sein de son équipe marketing. That said, this model of the Torin is not for everyone. Altra has revamped the midsole of the Torin 4.0, and in so doing they have removed a small amount (~2mm) of cushioning. The Altra Torin has been one of Altra’s most popular road shoe models over the years, and the Torin 4.0 is the latest iteration. I’d love to see Altra trim a bit more of cushioning off of this shoe as I’m a fan of fairly minimal amounts of cushioning, but I really can’t complain about this shoe overall.

As I mentioned earlier in this review, the sole unit of the Torin 4.0 is a big change from prior models. And the reason for that is the Quantic cushioning in the midsole. Soft cushioning makes the Altra Torin 4.5 Plush a comfortable cruiser on par with many popular max-cushioned running shoes. Tipping the scales at 9 oz the Torin 5 is nice and light. While not as lean as a racing shoe, the Torin 5 is perfectly in league with shoes within its intended use genre. The Torin 5 is the perfect weight for those everyday runs. Altra even achieves this weight while offering a slightly more cushioned platform. Enhanced heel collar is a nice touch Of course, there’s still plenty of room in the toe box as well, even though Altra has streamlined its profile over the last year or so (thank God).
