Configuration Everybody is still in a euphoric state of mind about this Atem Mini Pro. I must admit that it includes me. However I can think of a few minors. I bought the Atem to reduce my editing time by changing to more 'live editing' during the broadcast or recording and to be able to live switch camera's without problems. I mainly record or live-stream smaller (sports)events. Ethernet supports 10/100/1000 BaseT. Ethernet used for direct connection between panel and chassis or via network. You can also use the USB Out to connect an external hard drive and write directly to disk. This is useful if you want to later edit a video before publishing it, or just want a direct copy of the stream without any quality loss. Obviously, if you’ve got a hard drive plugged in to the USB-C port, you can’t use the Mini Pro with your PC. Thankfully, you can still control it over Ethernet, but you won’t be able to add it to OBS or any other software without a direct connection. It makes it so easy to switch between multiple camera angles, and offers plenty of features that would otherwise have to be pulled off with complicated software or extra add-ons. Once your sources are all plugged in, you can really start to play around with how the stream looks and behaves. There are easy transitions that you can apply at the touch of a button – from wipes to fades, it all takes just a few button presses to pull off effortlessly. Only hdmi input1 is forgiving with a little weaker signal strength, the other inputs require high strength hdmi signal. (You need the best cables and I am taking no risk and am converting all longer then 5 meter distances to SDI connections with converters. (not tested yet) Just wondering if you can enlighten me on something to do with the ATEM Mini Pro: When recording the output to a USB-C connected hard drive I would also like to control the ATEM software on my laptop. In your article you state: When your ATEM Mini Pro’s USB-C output is connected to an external disk for recording and you want to keep using ATEM Software Control, the USB connection will be busy, so you will need to connect your ATEM Mini Pro to your computer via Ethernet. This is quite easy, as you can connect a network cable direct between your computer and the ATEM Mini.

Even though streaming is built in, you can also use the USB as a webcam output if the USB connection is free, so you can use a computer to live stream via video conferencing apps such as Skype and Zoom, and streaming apps such as OBS. The streaming quality setting will determine the quality of your recording. For example, if you set the streaming to Streaming Medium, then the recording will also be set to Streaming Medium automatically. This might result in recordings that are not as high as you like, so it might be better to choose a higher streaming quality if you want higher quality recordings.
