About this deal

Maybe I am the only person in the world who doesn't like this style of transcribing the Scripture. She does have a huge following, which is merited. She has a lot of good things to say and counsel others with. I do love her works and can usually ignore the punctuation in question when she's just quoting one or two verses. But to do that with the whole Bible is more than I can tolerate. Battlefield of the Mind is not a metaphor. In her bestselling book of 130 publications, author, Bible teacher, and speaker Joyce Meyer explains that whether we know it or not, we are engaged in a constant and literal battle for the well-being of our minds. On one side of the battle is Satan, who tries to corrupt our minds and lives with his negativity. On the other side are Christians hoping to live the meaningful and fulfilling life God intends for them. I have been a Christian for many years, I usually read Bible in a different translation each year. This Bible is perfect for those who love Joyce Meyer's teachings. I found this Bible very useful for self study and very inspiring because it teaches you how to overcome your life and fulfill God’s purpose. I would definitely recommend this Bible to anyone who wants to learn more about the word of God and how to apply it to their daily lives. It was a glorious revelation for me when I realized I don’t have to think about just anything that comes into my mind. I can choose my thoughts and do my own thinking— on purpose.

Romans 12:2 says, Do not be conformed to this world...but be transformed (changed) by the [entire] renewal of your mind... (AMPC). If I were to say to my wife, “Honey, I’ll be faithful to you twenty-nine days of the month,” she knows, and I know, that partial faithfulness is unfaithfulness. It is only faithfulness if it is my habit to always be faithful to her. If your mood begins to sink or you have a bad attitude, take an inventory of your current thoughts and you will very likely find the culprit. I enjoy knowing that I can do something about my problems… that I can do my own thinking. I learned firsthand how to use those weapons. From 1949 onwards (for about nine years) I was pastor of a congregation in London, England. I achieved a certain measure of success in my ministry. We regularly saw people saved and healed and baptized in the Holy Spirit at our church. Yet, I had personal problems for which I did not have any answer. In particular, I had a problem of recurrent fits of depression that would come over me like a dark, heavy cloud. The cloud seemed to press me down and cut me off from normal communication with other people—even with my family. How does he do it? He comes against us by bombarding our minds with cleverly devised patterns of nagging thoughts that lead to suspicion, doubt, fear, reasoning and theories that refute the truth of God’s Word.Joyce Meyer teaches how to deal with thousands of thoughts that people think every day and how to focus the mind the way God thinks. And she shares the trials, tragedies, and ultimate victories from her own marriage, family, and ministry that led her to wondrous, life-transforming truth--and reveals her thoughts and feelings every step of the way. My prayer is that Acts 2:17 will be true in your life and in your church: “And in the last days it shall be, God declares, that I will pour out my Spirit on all flesh, and your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, and your young men shall see visions, and your old men shall dream dreams.”

I was looking for a good study Bible for this year. I was SO EXCITED to see that she had put one out that used my favorite work by her, Battlefield of the Mind. That's why I am so crushed to give this less than a perfect review. Joyce’s programs, Enjoying Everyday Life and Everyday Answers with Joyce Meyer, can be seen around the world through television, radio, and the Internet. Joyce has authored more than 100 books, which have been translated into more than 100 languages and over 65 million of her books have been distributed worldwide. She teaches in cities across America as well as internationally. Joyce Meyer Ministries has offices in nine countries. I mentally skip the offensive punctuation, but it is really annoying to have to do it every few lines, sometimes multiple lines in a row. Where does innovation come from? It comes from simply asking the right questions. The only difference between an innovator and anybody else is not that the innovator sees more than what everybody else sees but that he asks questions that nobody else does. Perhaps the biggest limitation on your growth and your ministry to others is your imagination. God cannot fulfill your dream if you don’t have one. God cannot bless your vision if you don’t have his vision for your life. God cannot help you reach a goal if you don’t have a goal. If you want to know how much Jesus loves you, look at the cross. With arms outstretched and nail-pierced hands, Jesus says that the cross is how much he and his Father love us. “God shows his love for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us” (Romans 5:8). “I love you so much it hurts,” he says. “I love you so much that every drop of blood falling to the ground says, ‘I love you.’” That’s conviction.

Shortform note: Meyer believes that God has a specific plan for each of our lives, although she doesn’t elaborate on how we know what that plan is.) God revealed his acts. The children of Israel saw the miracles. They saw the Red Sea split. They saw the water at Marah. They saw the doves and the manna and much more. They saw the acts of God. But Moses knew the ways of God. He knew why God had done those things. They had knowledge, but Moses also had perspective. In knowledge, the goal is to know the Word of God; but in perspective, the goal is to have the mind of God as much as possible. So we want to develop for ourselves, and to help others develop, the mind of Christ (1 Corinthians 2:14–16; Philippians 2:5–11). 3) Conviction Denominational pride is another way this stronghold is seen. Some people say, “I know my denomination, so don’t tell me anything that does not agree with my denominational doctrine—even if it is in the Bible.” This could be said of Baptists, Methodists, Pentecostals, Presbyterians—the list could be endless. If you are going to hold on to everything that is under a certain label—be it Protestant or Catholic or Presbyterian or Pentecostal or whatever—I believe you have a stronghold of pride in your mind.

Full of commentary, prayers, and highlighted scriptures, reading this Bible feels like an intense Bible study without having to bring several other books into it. It intends to encourage and strengthen the faith of its readers, and seems to do just that. So, our weapons are the Word used in various ways. We can pray the word, speak the word, sing the word, and study the word. As Paul tells us in 2 Corinthians, our weapons are not carnal (fleshly) weapons; they are spiritual. We need spiritual weapons because we are fighting master spirits, yes, even the devil himself. Even Jesus used the weapon of the Word in the wilderness to defeat the devil. (See Luke 4:1-13.) Each time the devil lied to Him, Jesus responded with, “It is written,” and quoted him the Word.”
