About this deal

Press the power button on your headphones for 5 seconds. When the five Fuel Gauge lights flash, your headphones are discoverable. On the positive side, when connected to the Samsung Galaxy S5, I could easily walk around my 900 square-foot apartment and a friend's roughly 1,500 square-foot house, all without a single dropout. Impressive! Call Quality All of the fuel gauge LEDs will blink white, then one LED will blink red. This sequence will happen three times. When the lights stop flashing, your headphones will have been reset. In terms of performance, the Studio3 is a poor value. The Beats Studio3 is a good pair of wireless headphones, but it does not live up to its high-end and high-priced pedigree it sports, making it an option we don't recommend, especially when compared with other top-ranked wireless headphones. What Other Wireless Headphones Should You Consider? Just like last year’s Solo3, the Beats Studio3 Wireless are Bluetooth headphones with active noise cancellation (ANC). That means they monitor ambient sound and play a sound wave along with your music to cancel it out.

The Beats Studio3 Wireless have a built-in rechargeable battery that can be recharged via micro USB cable. As an Android user, I prefer this approach, but Apple users may want a Lightning port similar to that of the Beats X Wireless earbuds. Creation Consumer Finance Ltd is authorised and regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority (Register no. 311518). If you pair your headphones with an iPhone that uses iOS 11 or later, your headphones automatically update to the latest firmware. They certainly don’t suffer from a surfeit of bass (long held as a defining trait for the brand). It’s the mid-range that dominates instead. One thing you will notice is that the Studio3 headphones add quite a bit more volume than some of these other models. When using the Bose, I could raise the volume two or three steps below full volume, whereas using the Beats, I had to lower it by four or five notches. Battery Life

Beats have always been known to have a more aggressive music profile than other more natural-sounding headphones, especially in the lower frequencies. As EDM and hip-hop are two of my favorite genres of music these days, it's nice to have a pair of cans that really let you feel the bass drop. The headphones fit snug to the head, which gives them a cool streamlined appearance. The ear pads are synthetic leather, but soft as Mr Whippy’s finest. They’re comfortable, although after a few hours your ears will begin to sweat.

To charge your headphones, plug them into a power source using the included micro USB cable. As the headphones charge, the five Fuel Gauge lights flash. When your headphones are fully charged, all five lights remain lit. An excellent choice for both audiophiles and those looking to enhance their concentration by drowning out distractionsIn 2014, Apple agreed to buy Beats Music and Beats Electronics based on their deep commitment to music fans, artists, songwriters and the music industry. The acquisition is thought to be Apple’s largest to date. Once powered on, pressing this button two times in rapid succession toggles the active noise cancellation (ANC), indicated with an ascending or descending pair of "bonks." Holding this button also turns the headphones off, but there is only an echoing sound effect trailing off indicating the headphones are no longer paired. If my phone was not paired to the Studio3 headphones when powering down, there wasn't any audible indication that they had been turned off. Controls and Smart Functionality As EDM and hip-hop are two of my favorite genres of music these days, it’s nice to have a pair of cans that really let you feel the bass drop.

The feeling that chaos was about to erupt was palpable": Thurston Moore's memoir Sonic Life is a fascinating insider account of life-changing outsider art, and one music geek's insatiable lust for the loud This is not to say they won’t drop deep. Take the Money and Crawl (Green Day, from Father of All…) lays the beat down like Conor McGregor. Using the Studio3s on quite a few calls during my testing, the call quality was clear on my end. When I asked other people if they could hear me, on multiple occasions they told me that the audio was clear, and they couldn't tell that I wasn't on a handset. The controls are intuitive and easy to locate: the left ear cup hosts a central pause/play button behind the Beats logo and there are volume controls embedded into the plastic ring surrounding it. The LED status lights, such as they are, aren’t too bright or garish and there are no touch-sensitive controls in sight. One thing I like with these as compared to a few other models such as the Sennheiser 4.50 BTNC, is the audio comes through both ears versus only one with the others. Bottom Line To answer a second incoming call and put the first call on hold, press once. When two calls are active, this switches between calls. The right outer ear cup has a multifunction button on the bottom that has a single white light in its center to show that the headphones have power. Below the button are five white indicator lights to both show battery level when the headphones turn on and slowly pulse when put into pairing mode. At the very bottom of the right ear cup, touching where the outer plastic meets the synthetic leather ear cup is the micro USB charging port. Comfort and Fit When it comes to noise cancelling, we’d rank these Beats below the class leaders. But their Pure Active Noise Cancelling tech is more than able to muffle generic hubbub, by dynamically adjusting to what’s going on around you. Beats headphones have unfairly earned a reputation over the years for favouring marketing spiel over sound quality, but since its Apple takeover, it’s been all change. Last year’s Beats Solo3 were great headphones – despite the on-ear design – they were comfortable, sounded pretty good and, thanks to the presence of Apple’s clever W1 Bluetooth chip, paired with iPhone and iPad completely seamlessly.
