About this deal

For an 8x42 this is very good and therefore makes these Celestron binoculars perfectly suitable if you also like to study things like Butterflies and other Insects. This shape is sometimes referred to as a top-hinge design that was really made popular with the release of the latest Zeiss Victory HT binoculars, but which you now find on a whole host of bins, including these great looking Hawke Sapphire ED 8x42's. Whilst there is an element of a "fashion trend" to it, this shape does also have a few advantages: If getting a big, bright and sharp image is your priority when you're looking for the best binoculars for birdwatching, Nikon's Action EX 12x50 is a strong contender. With large 50mm objective lenses and 12x magnification, they provide killer views in all conditions and at a very reasonable price; however, the trade-off for this performance is weight. Coming in at a whole kilogram, these binos are big and heavy, and if you're not blessed with rippling biceps, you'll probably want to use them with a tripod (and an L-shaped adapter).

Celestron TrailSeeker 8x42 binoculars review | Digital Camera

The Monarch fares better here. It's colour rendition seems quite neutral. In this respect, I definitely preferred the Monarch. This is even more impressive when you consider that it has a magnesium chassis as well as a metal focus know and eyepiece housing.

On top of this, the prisms also have phase correction coatings added to them. This keeps the separate wavelengths if light "in step" whilst it passes through the prism and thus ensures these binoculars deliver an image with improved resolution and contrast when compared to a roof prism binocular without them. Coating Comparisons Instead, Celestron has upgraded the TrailSeeker ED to a metal focus wheel which not only looks far nicer but also has a really smooth action to it.This much you gather from a short glimpse at the warranty card, but it's worthwhile reading the small print. In addition to this, the inclusion of BAK-4 prisms helps to further increase the transmission of light. The design of these prisms helps to take in more light through the binoculars. This helps to make the viewable image much brighter and certainly more defined. This makes the Viking Kestrel ED a fantastic option regardless of your environment. However to produce a quality instrument that also has a small price tag is very difficult to achieve because you have to make some sort of compromises along the way and even though many try, many get it wrong. To take a look at and see how well I think Celestron have done, please take some time to read my Celestron Trailseeker 8x42 binocular review below: The level of anti-reflection coatings does make a noticeable difference in both the quality and brightness of the image. These Celestron TrailSeeker ED 8x42 binoculars have a minimum IPD position of 5.6cm and a maximum of 7.4cm which is a standard range for a 42mm binocular and thus should cater to the majority of users out there.
