He was insanely jealous of her, while he couldn't keep his own pants pulled up and had affairs with most (if not all) of his female co-stars. Per her memoir, Elvis’s desire to ‘control’ Priscilla was so great that he once told his pal Rex Mansfield that he chose her because he could “train her in any way I want” due to her tender age. It's also disturbing to know that while Elvis was very controlling and abusive with Priscilla and those who worked for him, he was under the abusive control of Colonel Parker. It's a vicious cycle of abuse. However after reading this book I have to say I have little respect for the man. Good singer or no, he had the morals of a hyena. Decently written. Spans a large chunk of time. Easy to follow. Easy (if you get past the content) to read, I finished it in a day. Very interesting for a nosey person like me. I feel like I know Elvis and Priscilla a little from reading this.

This pattern began before they were married, but in her 2005 made-for-television documentary titled Elvis by the Presleys, she admitted he had affairs with other women during their marriage.Elvis liked old movie classics revolving around family or struggles to survive in the world such as Les Misérables, Wuthering Heights, It's a Wonderful Life, Mr. Skeffington, Miracle on 34th Street, Letter from an Unknown Woman and his favorite, The Way of All Flesh, the story of a self-sacrificing father. Small and petite, with long brown hair, blue eyes, and an upturned nose, I was always stared at by the other students. At first girls would see me as a rival, afraid I'd take their boyfriends away. I seemed to feel more comfortable with boys-and they were usually friendlier. In some ways Michael helped Priscilla overcome her fears and shyness but also the robotic lifestyle she grew accustomed to live while being married to Elvis. It’s nice to say he helped her with her career. And Elvis charmed her parents to go along with visits. Oh do I have things to say about her parents. WHO ALLOWS THEIR TEENAGE DAUGHTER TO VISIT A MAN IN THE STATES AND THEN CHANGE SCHOOLS TO GO LIVE WITH HIM? WHO DOES THAT!?

I love how sweet this book is as she reads it her sweet giggles and way she describes everything you really can build a picture of what things looked like home her make up it's lovely to here the story's of elvis and his family that you don't normally here it's lovely to here that part of history Overall a heartbreaking messed up story that shouldn't be ignored even though the music is fantastic and timeless. My mother was too shy to talk about the facts of life, so my sex education came in school, when I was in the sixth grade. Some kids were passing around a book that looked like the Bible from the outside, but when you opened it, there were pictures of men making love to women, and women making love to one another.Rather than being the single event that the family anticipated, Elvis made their visits regular ones; when her parents balked, Elvis spoke to them personally, turning all of his charismatic charm on them, and telling them everything they wanted to hear. Most of it was untrue, of course, but the one thing he adhered to was not having sexual intercourse. During this time period, the Madonna-Whore dichotomy was alive and well, and any girl or woman known to have sex outside of marriage was likely to be ostracized by former friends and in some cases, family. It’s hard to imagine now, but at that time, no birth control pill had been invented, and a pregnancy outside of marriage was likely to ruin a young woman’s entire life.

Can someone please tell me why I read this as a 9-year-old? I am struggling to figure this out myself and am worried that the reading of this book at such a young age has caused permanent and irreversible brain damage.

It was very disgusting reading him get aroused by her brushing past him or hugging him.

I read this book after my visit to Graceland on September 10th 2001. (Yeah - I will never forget that date.)I found Graceland much more interesting than I would have ever thought and decided reading Priscilla's take on it would be good. Plus the book was cheap. Fortunately a child's innocence provides its own protection. Death was not yet a reality to her. She said she'd go out and play with Laura, her friend. When I first started this audiobook I thought I’d made yet another error in judgment & was soon to have buyer’s remorse, but I was definitely wrong.Elvis Presley’s ex-wife Priscilla Presley recently shed light on her past relationship with the signer in a new memoir and even went into candid details about the good and the bad. Presley admitted he had a number of affairs with some of the women who co-starred in his films, but all the relationships were before he met Priscilla and "meant nothing." Nevertheless, she understood these affairs were going on while he was professing love to Anita Wood.
