About this deal

Not being attached like some other finishing options, there is no conflict between material and movement. Long-lasting and durable, this 100mm uPVC end cap attaches to the end of your fascia boards. Environmentally friendly and lead-free, this end cap has been designed to perfectly match your plain or square leg fascia from Freefoam's roofline ranges. Colour fastness Foam profiles / rigid profiles BS1006 / 1990 Part A03 - Tests undertaken by BSI Testing for colour change resulted in an actual classification of 4 / 5 (where 1= most change and 5 = least change) Even when painted, cut ends look unfinished. The colour may help them blend in, but it’s still a cut end. Glued on cap veneer For a neat and sturdy installation, use our M4x40 Stainless Steel Wood Screws. Easy to install, with corrosion and wear-resistant properties, these Screws provide a long-lasting fit. Secure using a Phillips PH2 Screwdriver Bit.

Installing a fascia is a way to connect and cover the board end openings. As the name suggests, the board is a facing board that covers imperfections and makes a single, smooth appearance. Woodgrain profiles do not carry a fire rating Rigid profiles Tested to BS476 Part7:1997 Class 1 surface spread of fire

The mitre cuts are also problematic with picture framing. As the boards expand and contract during the day and seasons, the mitre joints will open and close. What once was a beautiful mitre joint joints becomes an ugly gap between boards. RAISED FASCIA BOARD If the tension device is not installed properly, or becomes unattached from the mounting surface, the shade will be rendered partially inoperable. If installed properly, the tension device will prevent the creation of a hazardous loop and will maintain tension on the bead chain. The tension device and label require tools to be removed. Testing If you are performing the end finishing as a DIY project you need to ensure you have the skill, time and tools needed for the job. Likewise, if you are hiring out the project to a professional , you want to ensure you hire a competent contractor and budget for the labor costs. Price & Warranty

Available in eight different options, Eurocell capping boards are colour-matched with all Eurocell roofline products. There are two ways of replacing fascia. One can offer a cheaper fix, the other a long-term solution. Here’s the difference. Capping over fascia The thin veneer has no structural strength. You can glue it in front of the scallop holes, covering them over but one poke. It is game over. Screw end strip to ends The first problem was the sub-division wanted to use 12 inch fascia boards which are extremely wide. This size of board exposes the capping to extreme weather conditions. When the cappings were installed they looked wavy due to the size. Endcaps are available in two sizes: 3¼" x 3¾" (83 mm x 95 mm) and 4½" x 4½" (114 mm x 114 mm). Larger size is available for dual roller shades. If clutch-operated roller shades are installed in an environment where it's possible that young children will be present, they should comply with ANSI/WCMA A100.1, the Standard for Safety of Window Coverings. Like the plastic end caps, though, unless you take the extra time (and cost) to seal all edges, this solution is not water tight and moisture can get to the plank cores. Fascia capping uses a thin aluminum sheathing that doesn’t always look structurally sound. If the fascia boards are really wide the capping can have a wavy look to it. The aluminum does not appear to be solid or have the integrity of a regular fascia board.

Capping over is a cheaper roofline repair option as the methods used are less substantial. It should only be considered if the existing timber fascia is in very good condition and free from rot. Attaching a PVC fascia board to rotten timber may cost you more in the long run! Full fasciareplacement You might be tempted to go for a cheaper “patch-up” repair of fascia instead of a full replacement. Known as a “cap over” in the trade, this involves removing the guttering then attaching a PVC fascia“cappit board” to the existing timber fascia. New guttering is then attached to the cappit fascia board. It is essential that the existing timber is sound – if it’s rotten it will continue to decay underneath eventually causing the cappit fascia board to fall off. Other than expanding and contracting, aluminum is quite resilient against the elements. If the aluminum is nailed correctly to a solid fascia board, it can last virtually forever. If the seams are not exposed to water getting behind them and the roof is in good health, fascia capping can be great. Aluminum painted surfaces usually last around 10-15 years from looking superior. After about 10 years the aluminum will begin to oxidize. When this happens the fascia capping doesn’t look as appealing. Sometimes you can repaint the surface and make it look better but it won’t return to how it looked when it was put up.Fascia capping is ideal for preventing water from penetrating through the wood. It doesn’t have to be painted and it can be put right on top of the fascia boards. However, here are a few ways water can get behind the capping. Veneer cap is not readily available. Requiring a high level of skill and tools to create your own. The veneer can be cut from offcuts put the additional labour for each piece is high. While working in Salisbury, North Carolina, a sub-divison wanted some craftsman style homes. This project included 115 homes that would have aluminum fascia capping installed. All the homes were wood exterior.
