Skeletor was described by the Sorceress of Castle Grayskull as a demon from another dimension. He was a pitiless villain who commanded an army of warriors from his headquarters in Snake Mountain. Skeletor's past was shrouded in mystery, but it was revealed that he had once been a member of the Evil Horde and studied under Hordak, becoming his favorite pupil. When Hordak and the Horde invaded Eternia, Hordak attempted to kidnap the children,of King Randor and Queen Marlena, twins who were infants at the time. And when their attempt went awry, he abandoned Skeletor and left with only the one twin, the Princess Adora. Skeletor who, seeking revenge, and being captured by Man-at-Arms and the palace guard, double-crossed Hordak, giving the location of the Horde's secret base at Snake Mountain. His only goal is power, and to that end, he will not rest until he possesses the secrets of Castle Grayskull, which will enable him to become master of the universe. This places him in direct conflict with the only man powerful enough to stop him, He-Man. Castle Grayskull was released by Mattel for inclusion in their Masters of the Universe Classics action figure line (mid to late November 2013), and a new character, named Castle Grayskullman, described as the "Heroic Embodiment of Castle Grayskull" was created by Daniel Benedict and was the winner of the 30th Anniversary "Create-A-Character" Contest. The figure of Castle Grayskullman was released in November 2012.

Rather than a bird-like headpiece, crystals are placed throughout the Sorceress' long, silver hair like a crown. She then reappeared as a ghost helping her daughter in the final fight with Evil-Lyn.Evil-Lyn herself became a sorceress at the end serving as priestess of Horkoth the god of the hordes.The Sorceress of Castle Grayskull, also known as Teela Na, is a fictional superhero from the Masters of the Universe franchise. The episode " The Taking of Grayskull" is the only independent episode to feature the Sorceress running; though she is also depicted doing so in the 2nd recount of her and Man-at-Arm's confrontation with Hordak in the Secret of the Sword compilation. Teela reluctantly accepted her new challenge to seek out the two halves of the Sword of Power, which had returned to their places of origin: Subternia and Preternia. It was Cringer who managed to convince her to do so, and he remained at Grayskull to look after the now powerless Sorceress. In the live-action movie, Castle Grayskull is finally captured by Skeletor's forces. The first image of it seen is of its interior as Skeletor, victorious at last, makes the long march across the castle's Throne Room. The throne resides in the posterior section of the room just beyond the section's seemingly incomplete marble foundation which rests atop pillars and framework that extend from a deep abyss. This foundation is formed in such a way that there are four large holes of sizes that altogether occupy most of the floor's area leaving a few wide catwalk walkways. The large posterior section of the room is lined with several tall statues of elders along each side whereas the much thinner, less tall, anterior section of the room is an open hallway lined with columns along each side. Near the throne, Skeletor has trapped the Sorceress within an energy field, which, little by little, transfers her power to him. The castle serves as Skeletor's main base of operations throughout the movie. According to the film, it houses a giant circular portal called "the Great Eye of the Galaxy", which only opens when Eternia's moon reaches its zenith, granting whoever stands before it god-like power. It is never explicitly stated, though visuals strongly indicate, that for this to happen the Sword of Grayskull must be inserted into a small column near the portal. The opening narration implies that Castle Grayskull itself is at the center of the universe. Other times she exhibits telekinesis, the ability to project images, as well as create fire, and produce magical shields. In "Out of the Past", she is seen similar to the statue, with an exposed midriff, and similar to her present day clothing, this may be why the locals misunderstood Teela as her mother. The Grayskulls received aid from a visiting hero from the future, who not only used his own sword to cut off another of the beast's tentacles but also suggested that King Grayskull might disguise the location of the Hall of Wisdom and encouraged young Ro to keep training with his father. Many guardians protected the castle over the centuries, the most recent being the Sorceress, while an equally great number of hero's used the sword of Power. The first to do so after Grayskull was his son, who became known as He-Ro, and the most recent was He-Man, the most powerful man in the Universe.
Had the series continued into the third season, She-Ra would have been introduced, with the Sorceress again sending He-Man on the quest to locate his sister with the Sword of Protection. The Sorceress continues to be a major character in the 1989 He-Man (toyline) and its accompanying media, such as The New Adventures of He-Man. In the 2002 series, the attire of the Sorceress was redesigned to evoke the feeling of an Egyptian Goddess rather than a falcon. She is still Teela's mother. The episode " Out of the Past" briefly reveals part of the Sorceress' history, and how Teela was conceived after the Sorceress married an unnamed soldier, who supposedly died in battle. Her husband is seen in heavy bandaging throughout his appearance, and his identity remains unconfirmed throughout the series. The episode description in 2nd-season DVD follows the episode's hint that Man-at-Arms may indeed be Teela's biological father as well as her adoptive one; yet other unconfirmed sources suggest that the writers intended the unidentified soldier to be Fisto, Man-At-Arms' brother. When not in formal attire, the Sorceress looks strikingly like Teela, only taller.

There are a number of magical doors inside the castle, most of them in the Portal Chamber, that serve as portals to various locations on Eternia, including Snake Mountain, and at least one that leads to Etheria. The castle also plays a key role in and is consistently featured in She-Ra's transformation, in the spinoff series She-Ra: Princess of Power. He appears in the episode, "The Power of Grayskull", waging battle and ultimately defeating the Snake Men led by King Hiss. However, Grayskull lost his sword in battle. He hoped it to be a sign that it signified true peace for Eternia. However, Hiss' rival Hordak, who had defeated the Snake Men, was planning on conquering Eternia. Therefore, Grayskull went on a quest to find the power he needed to defend his kingdom. At the top of a mountain, he met the oracle who guided him on his quest, showing him his lost sword and explaining that his entire quest was to show his inner strength. Before leaving however, the Oracle informed him that he would not survive the battle. Despite knowing this, King Grayskull vowed to do whatever it took to save Eternia. He then returned to face Hordak. Though outnumbered, Grayskull managed to channel his mystical energies through his sword, turning Hordak's spell on himself and his army, sending them to the dark dimension called Despondos. Despite this victory however, the Oracle's prophecy came to pass, for Hordak, whose spirit/soul was ripped from his body, managed to mortally wound Grayskull. As he lay dying, he proclaimed that his successor will wield his sword to defend Eternia. During his lifetime, King Grayskull ruled with wisdom and compassion.
