Main Objective: Be the player or the team to correctly identify the most answers written on their ‘Hedbanz ’ and get rid of their game chips first.

If a card is correctly identified then the player who is correct places one of their chips into a designated area which is the ‘bank’.

Encourage creative thinking. The cards included in the game are deceptively simple—it’s actually harder to pin down what your card is than you might think! Players have to be creative with their questions; for example, asking Am I smaller than a toaster? will give you a better idea of what your card could be than just asking Am I small? If you guess the picture before the timer runs out, take another card and put it on your headband (remember not to peek). Continue asking questions until the timer runs out. For each picture you guess correctly, put one of your chips in the bank. Then it becomes the next player's turn. Each player takes a headband and adjusts it around his/her head. Make sure the Hedbanz logo is above your eyebrows and centered on your forehead.

I hope you have as much fun playing these forehead games as my family does! They are such fun and easy games, that just happen to improve deductive reasoning and communication skills at the same time. This fast and fun game sees the players acting as the board. Each player wears a headband with a card that they can’t see, they then have to ask the other players questions about what’s on their card, and the first to guess it wins the round. The winner of each round gets a scoring badge to put on their headband, and the first to three wins the game.It’s very important that players do not peek at this card. It is their job to identify what is on the card by asking questions. You can also make a simple construction paper headband like we all did in preschool or kindergarten to be Indians at Thanksgiving.

To work out which games your child will probably enjoy the most, there are some things to consider: Want more cards? You can buy the full set of 120 cards I’ve created. The complete set comes with instructions for three different games you can play with the cards (headband game, memory, and 20 questions). Keep asking questions until the timer runs out. If time runs out before you’ve figured out what your card is, move on to the next player. But don’t worry…you can ask more questions about your own card on your next turn.

When it is timed, it is more of a competition of who can be the first one to guess what is on their card. Even after someone has guessed their card correctly, continue on until everyone has guessed their cards. If you want, you can play until one player reaches a certain score (e.g. 25 points). More Family Fun With the youngest player starting the game, they will need to ask questions about what is on the card.

Do NOT think that this is for primary age kids only – I have used this successfully with adults in Gospel Doctrine as well. To make it a little more competitive, you can also have a timer and give each person 1-minute to ask their YES or NO questions. If in that time they have not guessed correctly what is on their card, the next person then gets a 1-minute turn. Continue on with each person taking 1 minute until someone guesses their card correctly. Attention and focus: How is your child’s attention span? If they have difficulty focusing for longer periods of time, it won’t be fun for them to play long, drawn-out games. Look for games that keep all the players engaged as much as possible.Different versions are available depending on who you are planning on playing with. This varies in topics although the fast-paced gameplay does stay the same. Each person then takes a turn asking the audience YES or NO questions to try and figure out what is written on their card. You can have each person go one at a time, each asking questions until they have figured out what is on their card… Be careful when being competitive that no feelings get hurt, as that takes away from the Spirit in the room. If being competitive, be sure it is in the spirit of fun. The box includes 16 suspect cards, 16 thief cards, 12 clue markers, four detective pawns, three custom dice, one fox figure, one evidence scanner, the game board and a rule sheet. Some pieces can be a choking hazard for very young children, so it’s not suitable for children under three. The game helps children develop their powers of deduction with the support of those around them. They will also practise estimating probability and paying attention to detail, as well as learn the benefits of collaboration. Gameplay is pretty straightforward, with players starting in the middle and working towards clues. If their dice roll isn’t successful, the thief is one step closer to escaping.
