About this deal

With two contestants getting caught and out of the game each day, the tension increasingly mounts. Additionally, it's not clear at all who, or what, the Seekers are. In the first few chapters I thought she revealed the killer and thought, oh no. As it turns out there are so many twists and turns that it is hard to decide who the true killer or killers are. Overall this worked for me, and I had a good time reading it, despite its flaws. I'd definitely read another horror novel from this author in the future! The atmosphere in the abandoned theme park was creepy as hell, and I thought the slow reveal of the baddie was well done for ultimate tension. The art was amazing and really set the eerie tone of the park while still being so vibrant and eye catching. I found this detective myster thriller to be an enjoyable read. A little bit psychological thriller and a little bit police procedural, this novel seemed to expertly blend the two. I really appreciated the twists and turns in this book and would definitely read any sequels to this book. Shoutout to NetGalley and Ten Speed Press for this ARC! I was so excited to see that Hide by Kiersten White was becoming a graphic novel. I think it is such a good book for this medium. I read Hide as an ARC in 2021 and I absolutely could not put it down. This adaptation was no different. The concept of a game of hide and seek in an abandoned amusement park is already fascinating, but add in potential paranormal events and people who are desperate to win the cash prize, you have yourself a good horror. When it comes to White’s writing style in this novel, I didn’t like it at all. The chapters are done in days and felt like various, out-of-place, random mini-stories within those chapters from the POV of characters as events happened. These mini-stories just ended out of nowhere then right onto the next random person. We follow multiple different perspectives as the contest begins and a Hunger Games-type vibe falls over the narrative.

I want to preface this review by saying I haven't read the novel this is based on, so my opinions are seperate from any differences there might be from that. From way too many references of peeing and two main characters with the exact same name, this was one confusing mess with way too many characters. I didn’t like any of them and even found the main protagonist annoying. This probably would have been better if it trimmed down some of these characters to make them memorable. ARC provided by NetGalley / Cópia antecipada do livro proporcionada pelo NetGalley (review in portuguese and english). Hide was tons of fun. I just read another book that centered around a groups of kids dying in an amusement park and it was a big let down. So, I was 100% into the twist of this book.My apologies if I sound unduly severe, but actual 'reading' is still difficult for me due to my eyesight problems, and I rely heavily on an audiobook narrator to provide a fair interpretation of the author's intentions when reading me her or his story. Unnecessary dramatics and inconsistent vocal characterisations do nothing for an author's artistic objectives and even less for an attentive listener.

Since I don't write spoilers, I'll keep this review short. Tracy Clark is a new author for me and now on my A list. I look forward to reading the next book in this series, it's that good! Spread over three floors, two light-filled dining rooms are set around a breath-taking central staircase and enjoy tranquil views over Green Park suuuuch slow pacingbut i will say this - the opening prologue is a perfect first chapter. absolute perfection. so its really too bad the rest of the book falls so short of it. Without giving much away: I can absolutely say this was wild, jaw dropping, intense ride! My only concern is there are too many characters and some of them are truly annoying and easy to forget. I wish there were less competitors.

I’m finding this police procedural/psychological thriller well-written and absorbing with compelling characters driven by internal and external conflict.
