About this deal

We believe this is at least the second time they have used this property – they used it last year too. The owner of the property should be aware that this group's activities are monitored. The organisation was at its peak in the late 80s and early 90s when there was a Nazi-skinhead revival, but its influence has waned in no small part to the quality of its music and its followers and due to a split in the 1990s that left the organisation almost dead in the water and some of its leading figures left the country to avoid the attentions of the Nazi terror group C18 with whom they had a row over finances. The skinhead image was a “maybe in hindsight misconceived” fashion thing. It was cooked up by a bunch of us, including the band’s then management and the photographer Peter Kodik.” Skrewdriver gigs were regularly the scenes of violent clashes, with their 1992 planned London concert becoming the “battle of Waterloo”, with hundreds of skinheads and anti-fascists fighting running battles on the streets.

Since his death he has become the icon of far-right skinhead groups, with concerts planned each year in commemoration, where white power bands perform in front of swastika banners with Third Reich memorabilia openly on sale. Find a Grave, database and images ( https://www.findagrave.com/memorial/30501005/ian-stuart-donaldson: accessed Donaldson died in 1993 after being involved in a car crash. A music festival has been held to remember him by Blood and Honour including one set up in 2016 near Ely.Before forming Skrewdriver, Ian was singing in a band called Tumbling Dice who mostly played cover versions of the Stones, Free and The Who. At the time it was common for Pub bands to play cover songs all night. Tumbling Dice soon became popular around the Poulton area. Things were going pretty well for Tumbling Dice, so a rough demo was cut and Ian set about forwarding the tapes to various record companies. He soon found himself pleasantly surprised to receive an invitation to join a record label in London. Unfortunatly, the other band members weren't as keen on the move and in 1976 The Tumbling Dice disbanded.

Over the past two weeks a number of well-known hatemongers had passed away, notably a Skrewdriver bass player, a reputed Proud Boy and an author that was supposed to speak at the 2021 American Renaissance Conference. The ISD gig is held every September by the white power movement Blood and Honour (B&H) to mark the anniversary of the death of the B&H founder and former Skrewdriver frontman Ian Stuart Donaldson, who died in a car accident in 1993. GLORIFYING VIOLENCESeveral of the other band members have criminal convictions due to their association with the Stomper Crew, another violent Quebec-based extreme right skinhead gang. PROFITING FROM HATE The city of Sunderland in the North-East of England was the focus for the 2023 Ian Stuart Donaldson memorial concert. This enthusiastic gathering celebrated the life, music and politics of Ian Stuart and suitably marked the 30th anniversary of his tragic death.
