About this deal

EXCERPT: She can’t recall what started her collection. Maybe it was in a fragment of conversation overheard as she cleaned a sink? Before long (as she dusted a sitting room or defrosted a fridge) she noticed people were telling her their stories. Perhaps they always had done, but now it is different, now the stories are reaching out to her and she gathers them to her… Janice is a wonderful woman whose authenticity pulls you along...the breadth and originality of supporting characters makes this debut an immersive delight' Dorset Magazine It wasn’t heavily publicised but seemed to sell by word of mouth,’ says Sally. ‘I’m sure it’s got a lot to do with the world we’re in; people had come out of Covid and there was a lot of bad news in the media. I think people wanted something warm, where ordinary people’s stories are told in an optimistic way.’ Stories are the lifeblood of our collective spirit, the way we remember who we are and where we come from.”

the simplest of places. This book is a real gem to read. Every character in the story is part of a cross-section ofThe Keeper of Stories” is about human nature with all its flaws and inconsistencies. A fabulous story about storytelling and about guilt. It showcases people who are selfish and narcissistic as well as people who are kindness personified. It also portrays the blessings of friendship, and the influence parents have over their children, both good and bad, and the love of a good dog (with a foul mouth). She wants to ask if he’s having an affair, but doesn’t know how to say it without sounding hopeful.”

I immediately fell in love with the main character the keeper of stories who’s collection of peoples essence of life stories are gained from amongst the clients she cleans for and the conversations she overhears on the bus driving around Janice is just a cleaner” How this line, trotted out by the ignorant, can be so wrong . Plans for Novellas in November #NovNov23 #NovellasInNovember #Fictionophile#novellas October 28, 2023 Full of engaging characters that keeps the reader wanting for more. The main character, Janice (the cleaner), is the Keeper of Stories. She loves hearing everyone else’s stories but doesn’t really feel she has one herself, Janice truly doesn’t realize her own worth and as the book progresses you will find yourself wanting to befriend Janice.

Her love of all things writing continues with Plooms (plooms.co.uk) her online fountain pen company, which Sally started when she couldn’t find a pen she wanted to buy. ‘I write with a fountain pen all the time; I love the sound it makes on the paper,’ she tells me. ‘In The Book of Beginnings, I’ve just written about what I know, and I know about selling fountain pens. I also wanted to say something about the joy of writing in ink. This does permeate the book.’

Janice is a collector and a keeper of stories in Cambridge. As she cleans, she hears stories. Janice has a storyWhen you are a child, you don’t ever think of yourself as young. You are just you, and will take up guilt and responsibility without noticing that they are far too large for you and that they are really things an adult should be wearing.” What's the Name o...: SOLVED. Adult Mystery? Niece inherits uncle's small shop with a flat (her childhood bedroom) above. Uncle had a place for everything and everything in its place. Manilla envelopes. Estranged but they solved puzzles in the shop in the past. Found 2023. [s] Everyone has a story to tell. But what if you don’t have a story? What then? If you are Janice, you become a collector of other people’s stories.’ The first thing that drew me to this book when I was browsing the shelves at my local library was the gorgeous cover because I love beautiful covers. After reading the blurb for this book I thought this sounded quite good and it was. Janice is an extraordinary cleaner. She really cares for her clients and spends time ensuring their needs are met with barely a thought for her own. She’s a collector of stories and shares fragments of them with us as we read on. But her own story? That is a deep, dark secret that she can’t bring herself to share. Her life begins to change when she meets Mrs B, a cantankerous nonagenarian with an interesting story of her own. At its heart this is a story of friendship and it’s really rather magnificent.
