About this deal

Pampers definitely had better absorbency results than Mama Bear diapers. If your baby has sensitive skin or is a heavy wetter, this may be a factor for you. However, with regular changes most babies will probably be comfortable in either diaper. Newborns need a lot of extra love as they come into the world, and so do you. No matter how many children you already have, adjusting to a new baby is always a learning curve. Finding a good newborn diaper can help!

Our favorite feature, however, is the umbilical cord notch. While most diapers have a straight line around the waistband, these curve down near your baby’s belly button. If your newborn still has an umbilical cord stump, you can rest assured knowing their delicate belly area is protected from tugging, pulling, and irritation. Mama Bear: On overnight trials, Mama Bear diapers were not my favorites. We had multiple leakage incidents so I did not feel like I could count on them overnight. I ultimately would grab for a different diaper before bed and saved our Mama Bears only for day wear.

NOTE: Mama Bear was the first absorbency testing we did and we had to work out some kinks. You’ll noticed in the pictures that the testing liquid was too light in the first 50 mL pour. It also took us a few attempts to get into a good 5 second photo rhythm. By the last pour (350 mL), we finally fell into the sweet spot with photo timing.] Pampers Swaddlers Absorbency Testing

A feature demonstrating how committed Seventh Generation is to safe diapers is actually in the design. Cute animal prints will make your little one smile, but we think you’ll be the one smiling when you learn the inks and pigments used on the diaper are free from lead and other toxins.

Gentle Products: Many diapers contain chemicals that can damage sensitive skin. Look for diapers and wipes without fragrances, lotions, chlorine, or other strong additives. Children in the larger nappy sizes can also try a more absorbent ‘plus’ size nappy which is denoted with a + symbol next to the size, i.e. 4+, 5+, 6+ and so on. These plus-sized nappies are exactly the same size as their non-plus versions, but offer increased absorbency for big wetters and overnight usage. How can you tell when a nappy needs changing?

The Swaddlers line is known for being one of the softest available. The quilted heart liners is two times softer than the leading brand, so your baby can enjoy ultimate comfort. With a wetness indicator strip and super stretchy side panels, figuring out when your baby needs a diaper change is also easy. Apart from the obvious factors (squishy bottoms and a funky smell), it might not always be easy to know exactly when to change your baby’s nappy, especially if they’ve only done a wee. Some of the more affordable nappies will require changing more often than others, especially in the newborn phase of your baby’s life when they’ll be more sensitive. On the other hand, premium quality nappies have super-absorbency technology that keeps your baby drier, meaning you can go a bit longer between changes. Most importantly, each diaper was put through rigorous absorbency testing that I documented and made into gif’s so you can personally see how well these diapers keep baby butts dry.Pampers is almost always a brand that will come recommended by experts and countless parents, too, in part because its nappy designs deliver for comfort, fit, and protection. We also found that the wetness indicator on the New Baby nappies was one of the clearest out there, and our tester had very little issues with leakage, thanks to the soft and stretchy flexi-side wings and double leg cuffs.
