About this deal

There is something about the way an implement is used, how the punisher stands and how it has to be manipulated which gives a different feeling and with that different feeling, a different emotion. I love to be caned, well i don’t but i like what happens to my body afterwards, how I feel elated and high. I like the feeling of freedom and the touch to the red welted ribbed flesh. But it’s the emotional response I recognise from previous whippings. In place of the post caning high-fiving, extrovert, today finds me deep inside myself, all thinky introvert. I’m emotionally thin-skinned, a radio story about a cancer sufferer bringing unwanted tears to my eyes.

I hated giving birth to Geoffrey," Mrs Pike said, when Marie helped herself just like that to more bread sauce. "It was just like going to the toilet, only worse."So Gretchen's teeth went first and then she went all diabetic, which affected her sight. And the blindness made her very tired. She'd nap on and off , and sleep through any noise. "Not much good as a guard dog," Mrs Pike told her son with a degree of satisfaction. This man's very heavy punishment takes over five minutes to administer, not counting his interview with the officer in charge immediately beforehand. It appears to be treated even by the prison staff, who are doing this job every week, as a bit of a special event. A new team of officers has taken over. Why does being whipped affect me in such a different way to being caned? The sensations are certainly very different, but this is not about sensations for me; it’s about the emotions, especially the day/after emotions. You see I fail to see how we’re different. I can’t see why you seem to put yourselves above us and lump us in a “no good” category.

And although his character is a boy of around ten, he’s actually Carol*, a 45-year-old NHS admin worker and mother of one. Geoffrey rang her - sullen-sounding, as though Marie had pushed him into it: "What's all this untoward business, Mother?" We want our comments to be a lively and valuable part of our community - a place where readers can debate and engage with the most important local issues. The ability to comment on our stories is a privilege, not a right, however, and that privilege may be withdrawn if it is abused or misused. We then see prisoners waiting to be caned and being examined by the doctor. The caning operative is shown warming up with some practice strokes.Lime Tree Gardens was the third such bungalow Mrs Pike had lived in, not by choice, mind you. It was in a quiet cul-de-sac with a newsagent's on the corner. Mrs Lesley, the woman next door, had the hairiest legs - you'd think she'd have them seen to. You married beneath you," she told him during Sale Of The Century. "You want to watch out That Woman doesn't take you to the cleaners." Well, after all, the Workhouse had to support itself, he reasoned, and had to pay him sufficient to keep himself in comfort too. She'd had mulligatawny soup for supper and it was repeating on her - sometimes an early warning sign of Hernia Trouble.

Then he lit a Silk Cut and started answering Nicholas Parsons' questions. He was good at general knowledge, and he got all but one right. I'm sorry," said the man, who was ever so young - even younger than Geoffrey. "Would you like to sit down. Only we've some very bad news for you, I'm afraid." Although they go in character they tone down the role play - “if you took Tommy Mac to a museum normally I’d be very naughty,” says Carol - and combine the trip with raising money for a charity, to allow them to pass in public without people realising what they are doing. Your son, Geoffrey. He died earlier tonight. He was found at his office. He hanged himself. I'm so sorry."

Next comes a 13-stroke caning for a Chinese prisoner, which here is split over the first and second parts of the film. He takes his punishment remarkably stoically, hardly moving or making a noise. You have no cares beyond taking out your books and doing what you’re told - or choosing not to. It’s such a lovely release from responsibility.”
