This really is the domain of the provider. There is little you can do other than persist with them. There could be many factors which affect the quality of your service.

NTE5C master socket on new How to Install a BT Openreach NTE5C master socket on new

Or would I be better putting in a BT78a where the bakelite box is between the incoming BT line and the extension we use and changing that extension faceplate out to an NTE5c with the filterplate? I fitted one to my fibre to the cabinet BT line. Speed improved immediately from maximum 17 to a steady 20 Mbps. Then I ran a separate line to the Wi-Fi router and the speed went up to 24 Mbps. This speed is now constant all day, it no longer drops off in the late afternoon/evening like before. Well worth the effort. Reply The A and B on the front are a filtered ADSL/VDSL signal. Add another filter downstream of these and the signal will disappear. Hi again Rob, I think the penny has dropped. Pins 4 and 5 ( coloured blue-ale/white on the plate, correspond to the 2 centre pins of the plug i.e the 2 data wires that go to the modem router. I shall try that and see what occurs. Reply In BT terminology, Voice Reinjection is the way to route voice signals from a VoIP service onto the existing home telephone wiring. Thanks for such a prompt reply. The extension is in a room across the hall so might try using the existing cable as a pull through. Could Cat6 be used as I helped my mate run some external Cat6 and he has loads left. 🙂

Line dropped again to 2-3 mbps with multiple drops per day – plusnet texted to me say fault detected. Phone still ok. One aspect of your reply confuses me. IF the A&B on the inside of the mk4 faceplate contains both data and voice and is hence NOT filtered????? what would be the problem of sending that to a 5c/mk4 for voice and data. Because then the only filter would be the one on the extension. In respect of the front not fitting, I would recommend bending the fixing prongs on the front plate. It is, however, fundamentally a poor design. ReplyOR engineer was in today to deal with a noisy line. First thing he did was to rip out my NTE5 /VDSL faceplate master and replace it with a NTE5C without the filtered faceplate/RJ11. A good idea. Corded phones will keep working when the power goes off, unlike cordless. This is useful for the infirm and elderly who would not be able to diagnose power faults, restore service, and may well be distressed. Seems there was some BT wiring fault at the junction at the beginning of my street, a new connection and cable have been installed, I’ve run a speed test with the excellent down speed of almost 33 Mbps and up speed of just over 2.5 Mbps. Assumptions in situations like this can often be wrong! Cablers route the cables to their convenience!
