About this deal

You wore it to our wedding party at the Hotel Kosmos, where there was a bottle of vodka per capita for every guest. You smelled like One Man Show when our daughter started school in Vladimir. And you had that smell on you the last time I kissed you goodbye at Sheremetjevo II Airport in our life together. The base of the fragrance is almost the same as mid and it's a semi sweet, warm and kind of bitter green, woody and floral scent the overall smells really nice. To be honest I didn't expect that much from this fragrance based on my experience with "Silver Scent" also from the brand which is terrible in my opinion but "One Man Show" really surprised me!

i know, not 100% what fascinates me so much about the "powerhouse, vintage, oldschool scents", but they pull me in. Just like this. OMS does not even make the list of my top fragrances with terms to the scent but this does not change the fact how beautifully this fragrance has been composed. Its wonderful. One Man Show by Jacques Bogart (1980) must be one of the most audacious names for a masculine fragrance I have ever seen, to the point of initially staying away from it when I first saw the stuff in mall perfume kiosks. I assumed it sold to that narcissistic set of guys that believe in the "Three F's" and no, I won't spell out what they are, but when it and it's house of Jacques Bogart kept coming up in recommendations from fellow basenotes users, I decided to let my gaurd down to try it. Unsurprisingly, this is a loud "typical 80's" aromatic chypre of the "powerhouse" sub-genre, but unlike it's name, isn't quite so brash to actually wear. Those who have worn the previous Bogart by Jacques Bogart (1975) will instantly understand this as a progression on that theme. Perfumer Roger Pellegrino took the biker-meets-boardroom appeal of that debut masculine and cut away all safety restraints, bolstering the top notes and cutting out the leather. I'm not saying this is a flanker, but just a continuation of a dry, aromatic theme in a more boisterous and noticeable direction. In some ways this is a less-floral macho man take on Van Cleef & Arpels Pour Homme (1978), and in others, a prototype for Chanel Antaeus (1981).The top notes are very intense, woods and musk with a hint of basil and cedarwood. This beautiful combination is definitely old school barber shop territory, strong and powerful. Middle notes settle in an hour or so later and it becomes pure Polo by Ralph Lauren, yet a lighter, less heavy blend, with a touch more basil and cedarwood. This sweet spot lasts for several hours without being too strong or cloying. The projection on this is fantastic and the fragrance lingers and fills the area around you with an aura of manliness.

Jacques Bogart "One Man Show" already holds a strong position in the cheapie hall of fame so I will not belabor that point. It has a very fresh, piney opening that puts you on your guard (too cheap smelling?), but then you soon relax because it develops into something rather classy with a lovely creamy warmth.Bogart's One Man Show has a reputation preceding it, of its hyper masculine demeanour, and being able to clear rooms on account of its strength. While all of this is rather exaggerated, there is indeed an element of truth. I find One Man Show to be dry, sharp and even aggressive at times. It opens with a sharp accord of citrus, basil and galbanum; very soon the leathery attribute announces its presence, and this feature is similar to leathers such as Versace L'Homme and Van Cleef & Arpels Pour Homme. There's an astringency in One Man Show, and this persists throughout the mid phase where the herbal elements persist, there is an added note of incense, and any floral element is barely discernible. In the base I register some mossy woods and labdanum. Duration is excellent and sillage is good based on a moderate application. OMG, is this a gorgeous perfume! Saw it online for practically nothing and bought it for hubby to try. It manages to have the notes I love in women's perfumes while being thoroughly male, thanks to galbanum, frankincense and the woods. Will add more details later as I study the drydown but, trust me. Buy it, guys. You'll never be sorry. It's the kind of fragrance that, in my younger days, would have riveted my attention long enough to find out who was wearing it.

The top note literally exploded before us: freshness, energy, spice. Very hands-on, loud. Very 80's, even though we were in the 90's. I know Humphrey Bogart, but who's Jacques?" "A famous designer," Lonja said. "Spray this on your face. You'll see, it's a fantastic fragrance. And expensive here." Make-up and skincare services, BrowBar benefit, gifting and personalisation workshop, Sephora offers you a whole range of services to come and discover in storeAs time passes some sweetness joins in and some floral notes showing their faces. the peppery part gets smoother and green and herbal part gets a little bit stronger.

We both know that the shows you liked a lot in your youth can be replaced by other spectacles and performances in the course of your life. Both were released in 1980 and had the same perfumer. I guess Roger Pellegrino was just being lazy :) And what are the other scents that stand here?" "Oh, these are Soviet products... i don't know if you like them...". Finally Lonja had his own bottle of "One Man Show", because if there was a nomen omen here, I thought, then he definitely needed his personal "copy". I can appreciate the complexity of One Man Show but the smell, ugh. I just can’t do it and I’ve tried, trust me. I found a 30ml original formula of this, decanted some into an atomizer to be greeted with Rochas’ Macassar dipped in motor oil and freshly changed blue porta-potty water, it’s atrocious to say the least. This is nasty stuff. I can’t even say that I’d classify this as old man smelling, it’s just weird smelling as a whole, and also really dark and oppressive, melancholy like, heavy feeling, somber.

Overall, this one projects serious business. Dry, masculine and in charge at all times! If you are all about wearing frags that do not sit on the fence, One Man Show timelessly fits the bill 100%. Macassar is a niche version of Bogart OMS. OMS is sharper and bitter. Galbanum in OMS is the culprit. Macassar is mellower, I guess they replaced galbanum with artemisia but I do smell some galbanum in Macassar.
