About this deal

If you need a speaker that defies the regular square shape that other speakers come with, this speaker is an excellent choice for you. It is oval-shaped, lightweight, and portable. This speaker boasts Bluetooth connectivity with a fantastic range. The only downside to this speaker is that it is not that great when you try to play music at lower volumes. Getting your room acoustics on point is half the battle when it comes to making the best out of your audio system.

To establish a connection with the speakers, you'll have to do it with the left speaker as it carries the necessary ports to establish the required connections. Of course, you’ll need speaker wires to establish the connection to your speaker. This is a nice surprise at the low price point. Wood helps to stabilize the cone movement, thus making for a tighter sonic punch. Anecdotally, people also say that over time the tone of a wooden cabinet improves. The DM 40’s come in a pretty small size factor. They aren’t so tiny and light that this would be a selling point, but the speakers sure won’t crowd your room.

The difference between balanced and unbalanced cables comes down to how many wires they have. Balanced cables send a positive and negative signal as well as a grounding wire. Unbalanced cables don’t have the third wire. The most notable thing is that unbalanced cables can suffer from interference. This problem only really becomes an issue if you are running the cables over longer distances. Or if you have a large number of other cables near your unbalanced cables. Great studio monitors are probably the most important sonic tool to help you create and shape your music – they are, essentially, your digital ears. The low end is most certainly accentuated on the Pioneer DM-40s. Whether that is good, depends on what you want from your monitors. Truthfully, the bass isn’t excellent, but it's not bad either. But you would only appreciate it when you play it alongside a speaker that functions in a similar capacity as this speaker. It would fill up a small, enclosed space. Nevertheless, the bass is still punchy, warm, and deep enough for beginner DJs.Practically this means that the crisp sound quality does not decrease drastically depending on your location in the room. Front-Loaded Bass Reflex System Our only advise regarding the speaker is to take care when handling and moving the DM-40. Because the speaker uses a soft dome tweeter and doesn’t feature speaker grills it can be easy to dent, ruining not only the look but the sound of the speaker. DM-40 Sound Quality The DM-40 also offers high volumes. Great for connecting a DJ controller to practice at home. They are not loud enough for a party, but we do not use studio monitors for loud parties or events anyway. The sound of these speakers is not loud enough to fill an entire room evenly. Even at higher volumes, distortion was very marginal. If you want a cheap studio monitor kit that has decent sound, the DM40 is an ideal choice. There are a couple of things worth noting about audio cables. When looking at studio monitors you need to understand what connection options they offer.
