About this deal

On the up side, sunscreens are pretty wellregulated in several parts of the world, and BP-3 is considered " safe as used" and is an allowed sunscreen agent everywhere. It can be used in concentrations of up to 10% in the EU and up to 6% in the US. Creation Consumer Finance Ltd is authorised and regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority (Register no. 311518). Titanium Dioxide is one of the two members of the elite sunscreen group called physical sunscreens (or inorganic sunscreens if you’re a science geek and want to be precise). Please Note: These prices are shown as a guide only. All delivery times are approximate but have been obtained in good faith. If your skin is exposed to too much sun, it can weaken the elasticity of your skin and change its texture. When this happens, you may notice that wrinkles, sags or age spots start to form in the skin, as UV rays cause visible damage to your skin.

Super common little helper ingredient that helps products to remain nice and stable for a longer time. It does so by neutralizing the metal ions in the formula (that usually get into there from water) that would otherwise cause some not so nice changes. These three letters stand for Poly Vinyl Pyrollidone, a big molecule created from repeated units of Vinyl Pyrrolidone, aka VP. Its main thing is being an importantfilm former. It was the first synthetic polymer introduced as a hair fixative in the 1950s instead of insect-derivedShellac. A chemical sunscreen agent that absorbs UVB and short UVA rays (280-350nm) with its peak protection at 288 nm. Unlike many other chemical sunscreens, it is highly stable but its UV absorbing abilities are weakso it alwayshas to be combined with other sunscreen agents for proper protection. More often than not, it's used as aphotostabilizer rather than a proper sunscreen agent as it can protect formulas nicely from UV damage. A physical/inorganic sunscreen with pretty broad spectrum (UVB and UVA II, less good at UVA I) protection and good stability. Might leave some whitish tint on the skin, though. As for Diazolidinyl Urea itself, a study from 1990 writes that at concentrations up to 0.4%, it was a mild cumulative skin irritant, but the CIR (Cosmetic Ingredient Review) reviewed it in 2006 and found that, in concentrations of <0.5%, it is safe as used, as the amount of formaldehyde released will be smaller than the recommended limit (of less than 0.2%). I’ve reviewed before and stated how unhappy I was that the formula for the sunscreen had changed. Well guess what? They’ve now changed the formula for the KIDS version of the sunscreen too. Adding the same horrible ingredient that damages marine life and ocean reefs. While other sunscreens are slowly having this removed - Nivea for starters - because they recognise how harmful it is to our oceans. Sunsense must have decided that something else is more important. My guess is cost of production. It’s a crying shame that a supposed decent brand has gone down this route. John Lewis plc, registered office: 171 Victoria Street, London SW1E 5NN. Authorised and regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority (Register no. 724309) for the purpose of introducing the credit provided by Creation Consumer Finance Ltd, registered office: Wellington Buildings, 2-4 Wellington Street, Belfast BT1 6HT. Always read the label and follow the directions for use. Avoid prolonged sun exposure and wear protective clothing, hats and eyewear to further reduce risk. Frequent re-application is required.

A real oldie but a goodie. Great natural moisturizer and skin-identical ingredient that plays an important role in skin hydration and general skin health. The disadvantage of Titanium Dioxide is that it's not cosmetically elegant, meaning it's a white, "unspreadable" mess. Sunscreens containing Titanium Dioxideare often hard to spread on the skin and they leave a disturbing whitishtint. The cosmetic industry is, of course, really trying to solve this problemand the best solution so far is using nanoparticles. The itsy-bitsy Nano-sized particles improveboth spreadability and reduce the whitish tint a lot, but unfortunately, it also introduces new health concerns. The Sunsense Daily Face SPF50+ Sun Cream is a non-comedogenic product that won’t clog your pores, making it suitable for those with sensitive or acne-prone skin. It’s also fragrance-free, so you can enjoy its protection without any harsh smells. Another concern of BP-3 is that it shows some estrogenic activity, though it's probably not relevant when applied topically to the skin. Estrogenic activity was confirmed only in-vitro (in test tubes) and when taken orally by lab animals, and not when used topically as you would normally. In fact, a 2004 follow-up study to examine the estrogenic effect of sunscreens when used topically on the whole body found that "the endogenous levels of reproductive hormones were unaffected" (even though BP-3 could be detected both in plasma and urine, so its absorption is no doubt too good). We have been using Sunsense for the last 10 years, since my then two year old daughter had a bad reaction to a big brand cream that we used on her whilst on holiday. My Australian sister in law recommended SunSense and sent some over for us (it was hard to get in the UK then), and the whole family have been using it ever since. Great products!Unfortunately the factor 50 tinted face sun cream peels off regardless of how I wash or moisturise my face. I bought some tubes for my Mum as well and she has experienced the same. I'm disappointed as I like the company and delivery and service were good, and somewhat surprised as this brand was recommended by a melanoma charity. Will likely try another brand next time I'm in need of sun cream. Apart from the general controversy around parabens (we wrote about it more here), there is a 2006 in-vitro (made in the lab not on real people) research about methylparaben (MP) sho It’s important to remember that sunscreen should be used in conjunction with other protective measures, such as wearing protective clothing, hats, and eyewear. Uvistat SPF 50 lipscreen contains Vitamin E and Tea Tree oil. The moisturising balm helps prevent lips from becoming dry and chapped. With the lips being the area of the body with the least layers of skin, then extra care should be taken all year round. A very common type offeared-by-everyone-mostly-without-scientific-reasonparabens. It's a cheap, effective and well-tolerated ingredient tomake sure the cosmetic formula does not go wrong too soon.
