About this deal
Sylah and Anoor are two characters I would go to war for, and their dynamic is wonderfully crafted throughout the novel. It's a strange thing giving your own book five stars. Especially when you first wrote it, you didn't think anyone but your cat would read it - and she doesn't like fantasy all that much so she still hasn't got round to it.
Stolen from her noble crib as a child, Sylah was one of ‘the Sandstorm’: 12 Ember children raised by rebels to one day bring down the empire — until a massacre left her the lone survivor. Sapphic enemies to lover of course i was there plus its fantasy and sci fi and going to be a trilogy, excuse me while i go scream for joy. The three women find their answers, but they’re not the answers they wanted. The drumbeat of change thrums throughout the world. Sylah’s mission had been to enter the Aktibar for the Warden of Strength. She misses the deadline and instead is forced to help Anoor train for it. Anoor has always been underestimated. Her mother (current Warden of Strength) hated and abused her for her low blood. Forced to confront everything she has run from, and the truth of her past, can Sylah achieve the destiny she was trained for? With a heroine with bite, a supporting cast of flawed but deeply human characters, and world building that is raw, unforgiving, and richly textured, The Final Strife is the real deal: epicfantasy turned on its head in the most compelling way imaginable.” —Kalynn Bayron, bestselling author of Cinderella Is Dead and This Poison Heart
In the first book of a visionary fantasy trilogy with its roots in the mythology of Africa and Arabia, three women band together against a cruel empire that divides people by blood. Full of rich, vivid world-building with political intrigue and characters you can't help but root for. I loved it." - Christina Sweeney-Baird El-Arifi tells a tale that is as fierce as its characters, plunging you into a sandy, stratified world until you can feel the grit between your teeth. Heart-wrenching and heart-pounding, The Final Strife is an unmissable debut." - Andrea StewartI’ve realised a world run by people who think they’re better will never be better for everyone. … I didn’t want to fight this battle, but I was the only one who could. Not because I’m better but because I’m not one of them. And that’s a start” I loved the story, simply loved it, and I could not wait to finish it, to see if things would work out the way I thought they would. Some did, some didnt, and that was fine by me, as I loved the ending, and I can not wait for the next book. Hassa moves through the world unseen by upper classes, so she knows what it means to be invisible. But invisibility has its uses: It can hide the most dangerous of secrets, secrets that can reignite a revolution. And when she joins forces with Sylah and Anoor, together these grains of sand will become a storm. There are some books that when you read them, you just know. You know that these characters and their stories are going to live in your head for years.
