About this deal

In The Psychopath Test, Ronson describes his quest to determine whether it is true that many high up CEOs and politicians are psychopaths. While the personal development books I listed were practical, most of my selections for the best psychology books axre theoretical. ( Self-Therapy is the exception. And certain sections in KWML and The Wisdom of the Enneagram are practical too.) Besides learning more about Sigmund Freud and Carl Jung, I learned about Fritz Perls who developed the very zen Gestalt prayer with principles that I would love to live by. Depression can become chronic or recurrent and significantly impair performance at work or school and the ability to cope with daily life. In its most severe form, it can lead to suicide. If mild, it can be treated without medication, but when moderate or severe, medication and professional psychotherapy may be necessary. Dyscalculia is the difficulty in understanding numerical mathematical operations. People with this limitation need help to perform basic calculations.

A fantastic, beautifully illustrated road map to major ideas and milestones in the field of psychology, from its philosophical roots, to its beginnings with behaviorism and psychoanalysis, to the more recent concepts and scientific discoveries. This was just what it promised, lots of big ideas, simply explained and put. The book had several schools of psychology, several theories of different psychologists throughout history with each of their ideas simply put and layed out in a way that makes it fun to read the book. Criminal Psychology, like forensic sciences, has taken a significant rise in recent years. That is why the academic demand has also been increasing, especially in countries like Spain, Mexico and Argentina. It is a sub-discipline that over time has provided us with very valuable information about the psychological motives that lead a person to commit an illicit act.Life can feel like we’re constantly sprinting to put out fires as they arise. But of course, endlessly reacting to problems without a second to breathe and prepare for the next is pretty exhausting. Dan Heath’s Upstream is his solution to breaking that cycle of reaction and starting to prevent problems before they start. Violence is defined as any activity related to the use of physical or verbal force on another person, animal, or object causing harm to them voluntarily or accidentally.

We believe in the power of discovery. That's why we create books for everyone that explore ideas and nurture curiosity about the world we live in. Facial expression, gestures and body posture are the most immediate expression of our feelings. The reason for this is that most of these signals are emitted unconsciously. Above all, in emotional moments of joy, fear, anger or sadness it is almost impossible to control it. Body language is the ability to transmit information through our body. It fully reveals our sensations and the perception we have about our interlocutor. Johnson is a Jungian writer who possesses a remarkable gift for taking complex psychological ideas and making them understandable and relatable to laypeople like us. And he does it with gentleness and an economy of words. Johnson penned half of the books below. The humanistic current is based on a series of principles that are not shared by other approaches or psychological theories. To understand humanist psychology, one must know the context in which it is framed, which is none other than the human being as an individual.Psychology for adolescents is recommended when we observe important changes in the attitude of minors, beyond the usual alterations of this stage. This is especially characterized by periods of instability, and it is here where the therapist’s role plays a key role in accompanying the adolescent through these changes.

Throughout this book, Pinker explores the idea that language is innate to humans, a phenomenon that he describes as ‘the language instinct’.

The Psychology Book clearly explains more than 100 groundbreaking ideas in this fascinating field of science. The adjective senile was formerly used because most sufferers develop dementia in old age, after the age of 65, and so dementia was seen as an inevitable part of aging. But it is now known that, although most people with dementia are over 65, thousands of sufferers are younger than that. As the title suggests, this book dispels 50 popular misconceptions in psychology. These are claims that are not scientifically true but still continue to be spread by the general public.
