About this deal

Is there a rumble in the jungle ? Find out using our collection of wonderful tools linked to the story Rumble in the Jungle, written by Giles Andrea. Jump down the rabbit hole with our beautiful collection of The Tale of Peter Rabbit resources. A timeless classic story about a mischievous rabbit who gets chased around the garden by Mr McGregor. His only remaining friend, the starfish, tells him to go visit the wise octopus (named Wanda in the TV series) for advice. When he goes to the cave where she lives, he sees Wanda the octopus. Wanda (in a deep voice) says that she has been waiting for him. Then she explains that the waves have told her his story. Then, she gives The Rainbow Fish her advice: He must share his scales with the other fish. She continues that he might no longer be the most beautiful fish after that, but he will discover how to be happy. The Rainbow Fish tries to say that he cannot share his favorite scales, but Wanda disappears in a cloud of ink.

When he encounters the little blue fish for a second time, The Rainbow Fish shares one of his precious silver scales and sees the little fish's joy. With that one shiny scale gone, he immediately feels much better. Very soon, the Rainbow Fish is surrounded by the other fish requesting scales and he shares one of his shiny silver scales with each of them. Soon, everyone in the ocean has one shiny scale, including The Rainbow Fish. The Rainbow Fish is finally happy even though he shared all his scales and only had one shiny scale left. The Rainbow Fish is a delightful story about a unique fish with shiny, shimmering scales, other fish admire him and want his scales. To begin with, Rainbow Fish was reluctant to share his scales, but eventually found joy in sharing.

Still excited, he told his friends about it. From then on nobody wanted any more to do with Rainbow Fish. They turned away when he swam past them Stories like The Rainbow Fish allow children to consider and explore some pretty big topics for some pretty little people! What is more beautiful: the way a person looks or the way a person behaves? Which one lasts longer? Which one leads to greater happiness? This book has been translated into over 80 languages. Could you try to translate some of the words / sentences into a different language? Could you try reading one of the translated versions? It seems the Rainbow Fish does care, however, because with no one willing to interact with him, there is also no one who is there to admire his “dazzling, shimmering scales.” Frankly, I don’t have a lot of sympathy for Rainbow Fish, but his co-fish are pretty awful, too.The illustrations are colorful and cheerful and do a great job conveying the message and mood of each story. The text is perfect for reading aloud to children, and also great for kids with a 2nd-to-3rd-grade reading level to practice reading, though they may need help here and there. The rainbow fish with its iridescent scales is the most beautiful fish in the whole ocean. But since he is also vain and proud, he becomes more and more lonely over time. Then he realizes that you can’t win friends through beauty. He overcomes his pride and begins to distribute his glitter scales to the other fish. This is the first in a series of blogs taking a look at our selected books, what makes them so wonderful, and what activities you can do to explore the books in your classroom. The Rainbow Fish by Marcus Pfister

What use were Rainbow Fish’s beautiful scales, if they were no longer admired by anyone? Now he was the loneliest fish in the entire ocean! \"I’m so beautiful. Why doesn’t anyone like me?\" In a cave behind the coral reef lives the wise octopus. Perhaps he can help you,“ said the starfish

What teacher or parent doesn't just love a good printable? I know, as a teacher and a mom, I love anything that is free that is also a learning activity. This printable rainbow fish memory game is a great way to engage your children (or students) to practice those critical thinking skills.

I really enjoyed reading through this collection of stories and sharing them with my child. I also really liked the included activities and author's note at the end, where the author talks about the inspiration for Rainbow Fish. The Rainbow Fish and His Friends is a compilation of stories written by Mark Pfister. If you haven't read any of Pfister's tales of Rainbow Fish before you will find they are sweet and teach a lesson on hiw Finally, The Rainbow Fish provides an opportunity for students to think about the nature of happiness and the good life: how happiness relates to sharing, beauty, friendship, and feelings. Can one be happy and friendless? Can one be happy without being beautiful? What role does others’ admiration of you have on your happiness? Questions for Philosophical Discussion SharingThat's not, by any stretch of the imagination, a good lesson for kids. I can see what the author was going for (sharing is good, generosity feels wonderful) but he chose a poor vehicle for that moral, and the result is a book I'm planning to drastically rewrite before sharing with my son again.
