About this deal

Many trauma survivors suffer major disconnection from their bodies, which makes it impossible for them to feel fully alive, take care of their bodies and minds, and effectively engage with other people. The brain-disease model and growth of pharmacology changed the field of psychiatry in several ways. He recognises a wide range of manifestations of trauma, promotes new trauma-related diagnoses, affirms a broad definition of what counts as a traumatic event, and recommends diverse modes of treatment.

The Score by Elle Kennedy | Waterstones

Regardless of how many years or decades have passed since the traumatic event(s), your brain and body continue to feel the effects. Trauma rewires the brain to cause people to be hypervigilant to threats and repeat the same mistakes, seemingly compulsively. This book is a fast paced thriller and is actually the second book featuring Fletch, a full and riveting book of family complications, violence (opens with a great scene!) love and lies. Though this is the second book and I would highly recommend the first, this could be read as a stand alone. This isn't the first book by Kerry Kaya that I have ready, and I may have liked this one even more than the previous one. I highly recommend this book; especially if you love gangland thrillers this is perfect for fans of Kimberley Chambers, Kerry Barnes, Martina Cole, and Jessie Keane fans.

Fletch has been in prison for 20 years and all he wants to do is see his kids. He finds out his wife has spent all the money and wants to basically rip his wifes head off. It is an emotional roller coaster. You need to be aware that this is a gangland thriller so some of the language may offend. But if you get past that you'll find a story of family, love, loss and loyalty.Van der Kolk can’t be held entirely responsible for the runaway success of his book or for the runaway semantic inflation and popularity of its central concept. The Body Keeps the Score has been successful because it resonates with its cultural moment, and it has helped to mould that moment for millions of readers. Trauma’s somatic signature extends beyond the brain. Van der Kolk explains at length how hormonal influences and the vagus nerve, which runs from brain to abdomen and regulates several internal organ functions, reverberate its effects throughout the body. Trauma’s impact is not only mental, emotional, and neurological, but also physiological: Trauma rewires the brain to put people in a constant state of stress or numbness, leading to a host of physical problems. What I really enjoyed about this offering was the character development. I didn’t always like Fletch in the previous tale.. his emotions didn’t scream gritty gangster to me.. but added to this offering I understand him so much better now, it’s family.. you’ll do anything for those you love. I love, love love Kerry kaya books she tells it as it is and this book is no exception a brilliant gritty gangland crime read.
