About this deal

At first, the girls are too angry to share their secrets and become friends. But when the tide breathes the promise of treasure, they must journey together to the bottom of the ocean to brave the deadliest shark of them all… An unlikely friendship begins between both, brought together through loss, and soon the girls become suspicious of the actions of intentions of Maple's father. Why does he need Blue Wing's carer, the local Shark Caller, Siringen, to map out the coast for him? Why is he interested in coral when his specialism is in World War 2? And what of Xok? The shark that killed Blue Wing's parents? Does he still hunt these waters? I'm aware this has turned into a review for adults to read, but as a kids book, it has everything. Adventure, friendships and fascination. This book is mobeta than I expected. So clever!

Each section refers to important events and discussion points in the story, suggests cross-curricular activities, and includes a ‘spotlight’ extract taken from the text. Extracts are accompanied by corresponding questions that encourage children’s reading skills. The characters stand out in the tale! Blue Wing and Maple shine on their own in the story. Both of them grieve for the loss of a loved one and try to move on. I also loved the way the author wrote Blue Wing and Maple’s friendship. The two of them don’t precisely get along well in the beginning. However, after spending time with each other, they start to see common traits that bond them. Even Siringen warmed my heart, and I loved the life messages he imparts on Blue Wing. Similarly, I also liked Mr. Hamelin. He was an unpredictable character and made the story more interesting. I loved this book (I am 54) and it made my ten year old son cry. He was overwhelmed by the emotional and beautiful ending of this amazing story. I believe that many middle grade children would enjoy this and I award it ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ And time turns a circle to the Aberkenfig library, where I took my two children to a Bounce and Rhyme session. This time, it was the gritty, grainy rain of Wales, but the magic of words was the same. Words to be sung, spoken, danced to, mimed, played with. Words leading you down a path you never took before. Then another. Then another...

Someone who’s sold their soul for a lot of kina,” was another. Gasps at this. What sort of creature would sell their soul for lots of money?I received this book through Netgalley, and am so grateful for it…. because it was Amazing. This is the book I wanted The Line Tender to be, but so much better.
